I think you should keep those timers long and even raise them in the future as long as there are enough players and houses to rob.
What I'd do is have the client send its md5 sum when it connected to Jason's server.
What if there's a client that sends the official md5 sum instead of its own?
I died and began playing from scratch after the contest had started. I already have spent over 100k$ just fortifying my house.
The contest is very exciting, but I'd like to see what kind of houses others have been building. I don't really need the loot, but I'd like to see the puzzles. I just can't risk it and go robbing since it's likely I would die and lose my house.
One thing about the death mechanics isn't clear to me. If I die while robbing someone, does my house get deleted from the list?
Let's consider a case where I have an interesting house to solve with 100k in the vault. However, I die while robbing. I understand that the game is permadeath and that my game is over (with that character). But can other players enjoy my old puzzle and try to steal those 100k? I really much would like that they could.
I think this shadow behaviour needs a fix. There are two ways to do it.
1. Decide that the block behind the wall can be seen. This requires that you can see the tooltip when hovering the block just as you can do now with all the directly visible blocks. Also the block behind the wall should be quite visible, not very dark.
2. Decide that the block behind the wall can not be seen. This requires that the block behind the wall is completely black.
