I love using chihuahua traps!  I exposed my house a while ago that has a trap like this: http://castledraft.com/editor/U6wpNA
Of course, in a real trap, I would hide the chihuahua.  As far as I can tell, you cannot pass through that trap using only dog food.

Also, I have used the change in spacing shown in gyuri's first gif to add a twist to the classic toggle plate - electric floor - powered trapdoor commit gate.

But this is
You | Cat
      | Dog
Animals move in certain order.  I think it's Up, Right, Down, Left.
So it's actually, all animals moving up move first, then all animals moving right move...etc.

If you do the magic dance correctly, the electric floor at the top will stay on and the powered door/electric floor/powered door trap won't actually be powered.  You will need to go to where the cat is to lure the upper pitbull to the electric floor.

Animals will try to move up first before moving left.  So the pitbull at the bottom will try to kill you, but he's block by the cat.  You will end up with something like this:

Now, you just have to run to the next part of the house.  The dead pitbull will stop the other one from chasing you.

After pressing the wrong arrow key and dying a stupid death (again...sigh...), I think I will be stop playing the game for a little while for my mental health's sake.  Before I go, I would like to show my house which has not been broken yet.  I have been hiding in the second page with about 30k worth, so it never really attract any brute forcing.  I do think there are some interesting design and would like to see what people think about it. smile

A brief description about my house.

1st part:
Don't be fooled by the toggle switch!  If you get between the powered doors without a doggie following right behind you, it will stay shut!

2nd part:
Just be careful about the pitbull if you get pass the magic dance.

3rd part and 4th part:
Nothing special.  Just additional traps that I planned to improve on.  No one has ever reach this part yet.

Bottom right:
This is probably the most interesting part.  If the cat sees you, there is no way to get to the safe without at least one crowbar.

See if you can figure out how to get to the safe smile

Feel free to comment on it and let me know any improvements that can be done.

I think it should be the bounty gain that is decreased instead of the starting bounty.  Someone with high bounty is unlikely to look at low level houses.  So they usually die in a rich house, making the rich even richer.

Also, you are never at risk of dying when you are being robbed.

That's not true.  If you are robbed and your wife killed, you end up with nothing.  Without tools, you are unlikely to be able to rob anyone, and no one will rob you since you have no money.  Most of the time you might as well suicide to get a fresh $2000.

You do not have to take any risk if you have enough tools.  Throw bricks at door to open, cut electric grid..etc.  Once you know enough about the game, there's nothing that can kill you before you have the chance to use tool to save yourself.  It's probably more risky to do a self test.

Keep in mind that with limited tools, you can still rob anyone you want.  It just means you may require multiple trips and more planning.
And we are talking about the rich robbing the rich.  If you spend $200000 to rob a $200000 house, you will not lose any money, but you will get rid of someone who have a chance to rob you.

I agree with the vulnerability and tension is necessary, but I do think the game needs some balancing.  It's now too easy for a rich robber to rob someone and destroy everything in a house.  The risk is very low for the robber because no trap can kill you if you have enough tool.  When you get robbed and your wife killed, you are basically dead as well.  And with the influx of new players, getting enough money is a lot easier than before.

No house should be safe, but robbing should carry more risk even if you have a lot of money.

I suggest limiting the total number of tools you can bring to something like 45 or less.  This way, a determined robber will still be able to rob anyone, but he/she may require 2 or 3 trips.  The robber will need to at least learn a bit about the traps to determine how to solve it or what tools are required, instead of mindlessly plowing through everything like it is now.

Why 45?  The house is a 30x30 grid, and you start in the middle edge.  45 tools will allow you to brute force to any where in the house if you use 1 tool every step.  You will be able to rob anyone as long as you know where the safe is and bring the right tool.

Robert Douglas Swain!!
My house jumped in value over the day.  Before I get a chance to use the money for defense, Robert Douglas Swain came in with almost 200k worth of tool to rob my 125k.
He came in and found my vault, murder my wife, and before he take my money, he walked around my house to destroy my walls, put a ladder over all trapdoors, and kill all my lovely pitbulls!

Why would anyone do that?
I am so sad now... sad

I found that the alt key also also triggers the ctrl-click mode.  Hope that helps. smile
