can't you use two wire cutters without a move from the cat?

Yep, I've done it before. You cannot take tools with you though, even if they are in the vault so robbing opportunities are limited.

Hmm, I thinks that's ok then XD

Solved. That's right, largestherb, thanks!

If you get kicked out while in build mode you will simply be booted to the house list and lose any progress you had made to the house since the last self test.

so.. someone with a broken/insolvable house could just open the game, then wait 5 minutes to get kicked to the house list and then proceed to rob other houses, without having to fix his own?

Steam only counts time that you played on the steam version, so playing the standalone version won't add time.

there was an issue with steam (that might be fixed now, i am not paying that much attention!) where steam would launch some other exe and then the castledoctrine exe, but the first exe would close soon after running and steam would think you'd stopped playing.

The standalone version isn't even in my pc anymore neutral

largestherb, how do I know if is this that is happening? Or is it just a bug to be fixed on a future version?
thanks!

interesting how this thread and these other  two threads are kinda merging to the same point

maybe with some pitfall sound effect when you cross a pit thru a ladder? XD

Yeah, a 'heat' on the player could be nice... but would heat + chills be a little too much?

A heat system was suggested in another thread, but a heat to the house, which I don't think is a good idea.

I had an idea, what if every time you used a tool, it affected how long before sirens? Someone firing 10+ gunshots would alert the neighbors I think. This could also prevent people from just trashing the rest of your house once they find your safe.

This is something!.. maybe only with "noisy" tools, like when you are crashing a wall or killing a pet/family member, but not when you are cutting wires

ChartaBona wrote:

Or what if an owner got to KEEP any ladders used to successful rob him. Something to stop people from just laddering all your pits for the heck of it.

I think this only makes sense with some items, like the ladder... or maybe only with the ladder at all.. But, if you think like that, carrying several wire cutters and trowing them away at each use doesn't makes sense too..

EDIT: Sorry, ChartaBona, I think I was typing when you were editing your post XD
The noise level is interesting.. but something to think about.. a crowbar used to break a glass makes the same noise that one used to open an electric door? The balance here would be hard, as it can't use the trap/tool value as parameter. (I think the tools values are based on how many/how expensive traps it can disable). That wouldn't be correct for the ladder and the trapdoor, maybe..

Anyway, that could apply some nice dynamic to the robberies

I've been playing since I've got the Steam key (at the ending of the contest), and it still didn't recognize time played..
Discovered this today, trying to write a review hmm
Is this happening with anybody else?

Time played on Steam

This could be part of a "heat" mechanic. The more activity/traffic a house gets, the more likely the neighbors will become suspicious and alert the police. Once a specific "heat" threshold is met, the police will be alerted and the house will be under protection for x amount of time.

It's a good idea, I think, and makes sense, but... I think that this would make the top houses almost unreachable, especially now with lots of new players entering the first house on the list

Sconna, maybe a better way to relate the suggestions at your first post is to link to the reply, instead of the "description below", like this
As the thread grows it will be difficult to find the exact reply smile

Would it be possible to have the graphic for "Wired Wooden Wall" be the same as "Wooden Wall" when robbing? I found a house recently that had an amazingly complicated locking mechanism, but I was able to get through it simply by looking at the wiring inside the walls near to me.

This would also help give some credibility to several "Electric Floor"s I've found in wooden hallways which are obviously not hooked up to anything.

I think it would make sense for robber not to be able to see into walls.

Or perhaps it could be a two step process. Every wooden wall would appear the same to a robber, until destroyed. If the wall is in fact a wired wooden wall, a wire would be revealed, which could then be destroyed.

Today I was thinking that a more "realistic" scenario would be if you could see the green outlets on the wall, but not the wires inside [which is a kind of x-ray vision]
That way you know that that is a wired wall, but you don't know exactly where the wires are going

#20 Re: Main Forum » Random Discussion » 2014-01-31 11:32:44

aand thats it. You just stay some hours away and it's gone xD
After a few days my house killed 163 poor souls (out of 206 tapes), and the vault had around 75k
Not much, but I was still pretty happy with it, as it was my second house

Then Mr. Coston stormed in with 168k in tools. Weird in the end, because even if all the tools was from another houses's safes, it would still be something like 85k in tools for a 75k house (and by the end he still had 60 waters and some other stuff)

At least he was the only one to find my "ohai" room

Joe, you can import the map from the game files using the instructions on this site

I think pets and family members, both in editing and robbery/self test mode, are always facing the player (you or others). Even if they had not seen you yet

EDIT: except for cats, which are always facing away xD
