Top area is really a mcguffin for the player to think they have solved the level.  Then as they progress down the trapdoors the 1st chihuaha triggers the power off on the third step.

Solving requires some bouncing around to get the 2nd chihuaha disabling the 1st chihuahas trigger.

This is freaking genius.  Even being able to see the whole thing I still had to spend 10 minutes just figuring out the right order.  And to think, after making a bunch of arbitrary movements, you still have to take that leap of faith and step out onto the trap doors... SCARY

One question tho: what about using electric floors instead of trapdoors?  I only suggest that because one vulnerability this current map has, is you could bring one crow bar and 7 ladders, kill a family member with the crow bar, use 7 ladders, die, and then rejoin, and use 4 ladders to get to the vault.  To my knowledge there's no way to destroy an unpowered electric floor at this point.. thoughts?

Whenever you see that, it means that one of family members was killed, which prevents the world from being reset.  So they probably killed someone killed a dog or two, and then retreated (or died), leaving the dogs impossibly close to the entrance.  This does mean that the next time the owner is in their house, they will have to move things around to make it beat-able again.

Note, in some cases this side affect of killing family members can be a benefit, for example: You encounter a combination lock with 9 blocks thick walls.  Kill 1 family member + then dig through 8 walls -> suicide -> return and dig through the 9th wall, success!

Would placing a wall to block it prevent a brick from being thrown? I'm just curious as it seems like a brick couldn't be thrown onto that plate.

Yeah a couple walls fixed the problem - any of those 3 nearby plates (http://castlefortify.com/?id=ce0ffd1) + a water bottle and trespassers could short out the grid and get by.

I'm going to share the essentials of my current design when it gets beaten. It's the one with the two grids and a pillar before a door at the beginning, if you stumble upon it.

Sweet! Looking forward to seeing it

I don't actually understand how bricks work... wouldn't a brick just cause the trap to activate? or can they be thrown to kill dogs?

Yeah you can throw a brick to activate a trap, which -combined with a water bottle - is really useful for timed chihwawa electric floors.

Course I didn't know any of that till an intruder showed me.. and it would of been really cool to send them a note, or at least leave some kind of note incase they returned..

Love it. Communication would make playing these things even more fun. Like if you solved a few digits of a combination and wanted to help others figure out the rest.

Also, I'd like to be able to send notes to particularly clever thieves.
Once I set up this trap: http://castlefortify.com/?id=ce0ffd1
and then collected a bunch of cash till I was the leader of the board (my first time!)

Was very proud of my minimalist trap.  Until this one guy came in and gave me a lesson in bricks. tongue
Extra credit if you can you guess how it was defeated.

@Nystical: You got it

I particularly like this setup because you can build it from the start, very quickly for $1340*.  And also because it's pretty much the minimum setup you need to create a impossible-to-solve-without-brute-force setup.  People who value their lives will flee on sight.

* Well it's a little more with the cat, who is there for my personal amusement.  When people enter for the first time, they cat will move on to the same space as the wife, and when they try to kill the wife, it will end up targeting the cat. Which made me shake my fist in rage the first time I encountered that on a map. tongue

Thanks!

Yeah you can't test your house - so it's really only good for sharing, and discussing ideas.  Implement at your own risk!
