yeah I died many times in your house so was very surprised to see you fell for the fake combo lock.  Literally every time I died I would go in your house and try to rob it.  I mistakenly believed the 3 cats were there so you could stop the dog from following you so that you could turn the doggy commit gate on.  Then to my surprise there is nothing at the end of the first hallway sad

with the starting 2000 I think you can choose to protect the wife from 2k of tools or the vault, but not both.  For example, use thick walls, a pit, a powered door and leave the wife unprotected.  On the other hand, use a dog and a shotgun.  Placed correctly it would be difficult with only 1 gun.

I've seen it! big_smile

ah that was mine...

Unfortunately, that floor keeps killing its owner.  After stealing 12k I set out to build it again only to die on the dog floor again haha.

This is cheaper and probably more secure for those  instances where you don't want the chiwawa to die

you can also use  a shotgun as opposed to the panic button.  You can have 3 pits and then leave empty extra empty space with a window, which could require 3 ladders.  if they had 3 they could just cross it.

for one thing it can be quite expensive to shoot a bunch of dogs.

Anybody see the house that starts with the electric floor spelling out Dog?

I'm not 100 sure I can look through the logs later I guess.  I guess it was just confusing because I didn't think you could lose your house while in edit mode...

It isn't a big thing i'll just start over.

I was in my house I had like spent about 5k on the house itself.  I was making changes when it suddenly told me that I left my house due to inactivity and then when I come back online I have 2000 dollars and a new house.

Not sure, looks like if you go in you'd be locked in even if you pour water on the power source... It definitely isn't my house. Perhaps I am not Holmes afterall.  My layout had a entry room with a dog room with doors that would open and close.  I did have some sort of bounty.  I died in MCintoshes house to a devious dog trap.  As soon as I died he went to editor mode, so I didn't get to see what my bounty was unfortunately.  I put around 70k into my house, got up to 50k, then I lost 20k trying to rob a house.  At this point I bought 3 paintings, proceeded to rob McIntosh and died.  All in all it was fun but sucked because nobody ever made it past the first section.

Well I had the house with a big dog room at the start with doors that would open and shut.  I was just scouting and got careless.  It was in Mcintosh's I believe.  There are two hallways that go up with a wood door in the middle, you open the door which reveals a large room with windows on the sides.  At this point the dogs in the two side hallways see you and you are trapped w/o tools.  It could have been somebody else, but I know my bounty was pretty decent and it was about 11 pm eastern time last night.

I might have been Holmes.  walked into a really nasty dog trap..  I think I got overconfident after being to so many places.   Oh look a door and nothing has seen me yet.. what could possibly happen lol.

ahh I've succumbed to a very evil dog trap

Anybody here McIntosh?  Im curious about the bounty

#195 Re: Main Forum » new member 45k here » 2014-02-26 21:53:51

hah just robbed George Washington!

#196 Re: Main Forum » Does this happen to anyone else? » 2014-02-26 19:52:16

My worse was after I stole 79k, stayed up all night building my masterpiece.  Then I had some buttons backwards and died during the self test.  Yes I was using indicator lights and so forth.  The problem was I was just testing too much at once that I didn't completely pay attention to the meaning of a powered door.

Another time I was in a self test and walked into my pit in plain sight.  Sometimes the traps just don't register to you in your own house because they feel so familiar.  The other thing is, if you just spent a lot of time robbing with 2k tools, you start to underestimate dogs and so forth.

One time I had a loose cat hit a critical button.

IMO, there is something utopian about the place that the self test has within this game.  In a sense it means that the behavior of a house is always completely deterministic, well defined, and understood by its creator.

#197 Re: Main Forum » new member 45k here » 2014-02-26 19:36:18

Yes you found it!

usually I invest in dogs early on because they can be moved without penalty.  Eventually I had no space for them and they fit nicely in the kennel.

#198 Re: Main Forum » new member 45k here » 2014-02-26 18:53:26

yeah very good point.  I have no idea what my bounty is so no guarantees there.  It is definitely substantial though.  I would say its at least 10k but possibly a bit more as I never kept track of how many low end targets I went after.  Been alive for a bit over a week now I believe.

I'm not really sure how good this design will do, but I did read the forums and experiment a lot before planning this one out.  Sadly, once finished, nobody has made it past the first section.  I'm not taking many risks right now; I need more cash.

Its worth a lot more than this because if you take it, I promise to suicide in your house - my bounty is probably like 50k.
