Thanks for putting this together.  I found it very informative.  Good luck on your next home smile

Well,  my wife was slain and my safe compromised overnight.  I haven't had a chance to see the damage or how it was done yet, but here's a quick video of it's brief success before it was taken down.  I think my downfall might have been moving the safe to where I thought was a more protected area (I'll upload a video to show how it was done soon, real life gets in the way sometimes).

The addition of multiple electrical grate commitment traps early on helped me out a lot.  Thanks LordOfHam and Pandamonium for bringing this little trick to my attention.

Bear in mind that these videos are initially correspondence with my friend and may not be of much interest to everyone.  That said, any input about what I've done or any advice to improve my game is much appreciated.

Hi Ray,

Your house has been busted for a while, but in that time you have provided many of my families with $100 here or there to help get me started.  I hope to see you up near the top again.

Good luck and thanks!

Wow! That one is well priced.

I've been really impressed with the series of electrical grates.  I've put a house together utilising the concept and it's doing quite well.  Expect a video of it when it dies.

Thanks heaps, guys:)

First off, make your walls more than 1 thick if you can spare the money. This prevents someone from just getting through with a luckily placed single saw. Also make sure to use redundecy while building electrical traps. this means that you use multiple wire for each trap so that someone cant just break one wired wall and get out. You can make some pretty cheap traps using electrical floors, cats, and chihuahuas.  he is an example of a starting house i just came up with to demonstrate some of teh concepts. I guess you could use it but i don't know how well it would actually work.

Let me add my 2 cents:

I like that design!  I've incorporated elements of it into my new house.  I'll you know how it goes.

Also you understand a really good concept already. Make it so people have to do things they might not want to do, like run towards a dog. Also make it so if you don't do things in the correct order, it becomes impossible to do them.

Here is an example of order of events. You must press the button before the cat is activated, because if the cat moves on the switch, thenn the grills will turn on regardless of if the button has been pressed already or not. just wire the button-out to be needed on your trap or it will be locked forever. Of course you must move the cat part so that it is visible AFTER the switch only when the screen scrolls so it is already too late.

Another good thing to remember is that robbers can only cut power not create it. If you can lure them into breaking a wire that NEEDS to transfer power to close a trapdoor or something, that is good.

Some of my favorite things is to create are houses that need certain power sources to make them functional.  That's saved me a couple of times. In fact, when the person came in and killed my family he effectively made the house impossible to solve without tools.

Thanks for the advice and I'll be sure to tell my friend about that castlecraft site.

Cheers!

I'm finding things pretty eventful today.  I left for an hour and a half to find I went from $350 to $3500 to $0.

Hi everyone!

I'm still very new to the game and have been trying to find ways to get better.  I managed to convince my friend (who lives on the other side of Australia to me) to pick up the game and we've been forwarding each other video clips of our houses.

We both felt a more trained eye could help us improve our game.  Any thoughts or advice are most welcome.

If you want a cheap addition that kills people with that trap, you can add something like this:
http://castledraft.com/editor/YOOyni

Most people's inclination will be to take the "safe route" up first - doing so will make the bottom sticky switch receive power, however.  This means that if they decide to risk going down after that, they'll be fried the step the take onto thegrid

That addition is very devious smile

isn't that a just a cheap version of the avaak's house?

It's very similar to Aavak's.  Close to what it looked like earlier.  LordOfHam, if you haven't seen it here's the link of it from the start.
