It was quicker to get there this time - last time I had 8 combinations to try and it happened to be the last one! This time, your changes made it harder to see, doubling the combinations, but I got it 5th time. Now that next part...
4 now...

13 now. It's been fluctuating like this the past week.
Wasn't me. I'm still concentrating on Smith (although he's changed the... something). He must have died in a self-test.
Your best bet is to send a message to Jason Rohrer and I'm sure he will sort it for you.
@eppfel I know there are just 4 switches there from past ventures and a recent scouting. I know the first one (I can see it. I also know they all have to be on. That means there are just 8 until now I've not been working methodically. I'm going to start though!
@matthias your house was very interesting! Knowing what I know about Smith's, it took me a long time to get started on yours. I look forward to your next venture.
All I've robbed lately is a couple of 4k houses. I think Wildman could be Eppfel's second. The start is very similar (but a little different) to Smith's. I'm making progress with Manning (as long as he doesn't change his start). Manning has/had an alt too - the later part of Manning's house is very similar to another house, but I can't remember the name and can't see them now. Riley looks crackable to me... I'll have another go at his house now ![]()
Edit: Just cracked Riley tool-less. I'm in two minds about taking the safe or not (stood right in front of it now). The house was too easy and I think the last trap isn't working right.
Unless that was intentional... I'm going to leave it for now. If the owner doesn't change it, I'll take it next time.
@Passive, keep it up. When Cullman launches his reboot, he plans to address issues such as 'my house is too valuable for me to rob others' by letting players have multiple houses in different realms.
Eppfel is Smith. Who were you, Thoth? I saw one house (McBride) that had been robbed. I donated tools and my $100 bounty to help out.
Most of the top houses need tools to progress. By that I mean tools to see how they work so a tool-less solution can be devised. More Santa runs delivered!
I just delivered a gun and cutting torch to every house. My second drop today.
I'm going to do some santa runs - Now and again in 2 hours. If you have a house, now's a good time to be in it!
@Passive, I agree there. However, it's not impossible to start from 2k. It's just not as easy as it used to be.
As long as you don't change... well, you know!
I found my old map and after a scout yesterday to get started, I can now reach about as far as I did before (well, not quite as far, but close to it).
I know what I have to do to go further, but it could take a while to find the right moves...
@Eppfel, I'm sad that you gave that hint. Now I'm houseless, I might have to take another crack at solving Smith! Now where is my old map...
It's odd, with all those pits I died in a pitless room! All 4 corridors can be solved without tools. It cost me just $2 each time to change the solution. I won't post how here, as I think I might use them all again! (bottom left, that is).
If you look at your map, the magic dance should be slightly different (the bottom switch).
Self-test. I changed pitbulls for Chihuahuas and added an extra escape route at the top. However, I couldn't factor the movement of 6 animals at the same time and ended up in this situation:

There is a pitbull above the right hand wired wall that drops onto a switch closing the right hand door. I had passed this area and gone out onto the ledges (see the full map below). However, my dance to keep the chasing dogs in was wrong. I decided to try to lose the dogs back in their room, before exiting across the powered pit (then a new, safe, pitless path added to the top - not on the map). However, the trail of dogs kept the closed powered door open until they were all in the room. With the last one in, the door closed and I was stuck listening to their yapping until I decided to end it all.
Here's the full map.

Can you solve it?
Now it's time to work up some cash and build a new design!
I will resurrect this house now and keep going with it. I'll have to think of a few more puzzles to add and I have a few ideas. No one has solved 'The Gate' without tools yet - the dog filled room.
Ah, then I apologise and even more kudos to you!
I didn't realise I had been offline for that long. The last time I checked (before logging in and finding you in the state of robbing me) your previous character hadn't visited me.
So this is the map I had for Rodriguez:

My favourite part was the upper right section (not the corner, but in a little, where I've put a yellow D on the map). I won't reveal the trick to cross the powered pit (next to the ladder) but it was damn satisfying to work it out! The thing I liked most about this house was that at every step you took, you had to think!
With respect, Eppfel, without two accounts, you wouldn't have robbed me so quick. You would have had chills while I was back on line, changing that code you saw... Having said that, well played - the code wasn't the hard part - the final trick was and you worked it out so deserved it!
It feels painful - I was logged on as you were headed to the safe. I knew it had to be an experienced robber as you realised the final 'trick' and weren't put off by my decoy. A nice video to watch that I'll have to think hard about to counter. I'll also have to incorporate the dead dogs into the design!
By the way, your new name is Herbert John Kinzer. It took you 710 steps.
Pps, do you like the little midway break I added? So robbers who have successfully completed the entrance can congratulate themselves with an escape route.
I do the same (suicide run looking for the safe. If I find it, I suicide there). I'm sure others do too. Of course, atm I have a house so I haven't been doing that the last couple of days.
It's great to finally se the house in full! I'll post what I had of your house when I get home. My map has some old parts that I never updated and is an amalgamation over time. You'll see what I mean from the entrance I have!
