I have made similar-styled traps months ago, but not to this extent. It will definitely be a new experience for anyone who enters, and it still has a puzzle "feel" to it. Realistically to beat it though it will need huge amounts of brute forcing.

Previous designs of mine were more robber friendly, i want to try to make this one as impregnable as possible.

Oh sure, you are rodriguez and Smith arent you?

NP itll still be some time before its fully finished tho

#78 Re: Main Forum » Who was George John Rodriguez? » 2014-09-18 02:00:53

Youll get there mate, when i started playing again last week i just missed (by a matter of minutes) on robbing THREE different top end houses coz someone else beat me to it or self test death.

Now, i have made three robberies in excess of 15k each since then. Persistance!

Ok folks im finally happy with my new design layout... and its unlike anything seen before in the game. No holds barred, no punches pulled, this design was not made to be fair, or nice, or to give any potential robber the slightest possibility of ever laying eyes on the vault. I also find this design aesthetically pleasing and anything but monotonous.

It's strength against all forms of assault far outmatches all other designs i have seen to date.

I will reveal my name in this thread once I have a fully completed model in game. I estimate within two weeks, it will be ready.

I will only reveal this design to the forums upon a successful robbery, self test death will not count.

Watch this space people! smile

Hmm things seem pretty hot near the top.... i think ill keep my value below 10k until my place is completely finished

Big houses seem to be dropping like flies atm

#82 Re: Main Forum » How are you lot so good? » 2014-09-16 01:52:17

My new house is coming along nicely but still a ways off from being fully completed.

Mr Barnes has proven very generous once again

#83 Re: Main Forum » A few things id like to say after returning to TCD + request for Jason » 2014-09-15 22:44:28

try to think up something original. Something that the more experienced players wont instantly recognize.

#85 Re: Main Forum » A few things id like to say after returning to TCD + request for Jason » 2014-09-15 22:15:19

Yep

Thats eppfel

EDIT: Also, combo lock based houses are very vulnerable to brute force. They do prevent suicide scouting well if they are big enough, but it makes them much more vulnerable to brute force.

Try to think of something else perhaps next time?

#87 Re: Main Forum » How are you lot so good? » 2014-09-15 21:26:44

yea ive been collecting alot of unaltered starter 2k houses that people are leaving...

So I dare say others are too.

Oh lol misread what eppfel said in the other thread... he does have more than one house....

there is definitely one dual account cheater around.... I havent the slightest clue who it is tho.

#88 Re: Main Forum » Who was George John Rodriguez? » 2014-09-15 13:39:29

I dont think its your most sturdy design, looking at ur rather impressive history.

Art is art i spose

Or is it quite unfinished?

#89 Re: Main Forum » Who was George John Rodriguez? » 2014-09-15 12:51:52

Is rodigruez your only house eppfel?

#90 Re: Main Forum » How are you lot so good? » 2014-09-15 11:36:58

Its hard to start out with a 2k house design (in fact ive never done it)

Start out by doing suicide scout runs on the top ten houses and compile notes and maps on each

Rinse repeat.... i usually rob one by about 5-7 suicide scout runs.

You do need a good knowledge of mechanics and to think each tool use through carefully to conserve them.

Now some houses (huge combo locks that cant be cracked with 5 saws... even one button at a time) arent worth your time... but you will soon find the weaker houses and focus your effort on those. Each time you will go deeper, as you have scouted/solved that part of the house previously, until you reach the vault.

Sometimes you might need to rob one of the broken houses or an unaltered 2k starter house where someone has gone afk, or rob a cheap house, to give you extra funds to for more tools.

Robbing teaches you how to make houses stronger too

Then you can start your new house with a nice 15k+ smile

Be sure to have a design ready tho. And the time to put it together carefully.

That is what i do anyway

#91 Re: Main Forum » A few things id like to say after returning to TCD + request for Jason » 2014-09-14 08:57:03

consecutive suicide scouting.

come in and crack a cheap lame temporary combo lock and die, then right after walk in again with the right combination.

I prefer to build a house as close to finished as i can in one hit off of one big score, otherwise your design is at greater risk of being compromised. Ill let you know when I have it up.

#92 Re: Main Forum » A few things id like to say after returning to TCD + request for Jason » 2014-09-14 08:27:43

Someone has been absolutely SMASHING my house with at least two accounts... I just died in a self test after -in the typical capricious artist fashion- deciding my design needed significant work -IT MUST BE PERFECT!!! I will settle for nothing less! So my sub-conscious threw it away.

But yer they are either really pissed at me for robbing them (maybe mr Barnes? I doubt its eppfel/rodigruez) or they really wanted "night sky". So among us is definitely at least one serial multi account user.

#93 Re: Main Forum » A few things id like to say after returning to TCD + request for Jason » 2014-09-14 05:18:19

with a single account he will need to be worth a lot to make it worthwhile. Unless you are very rich anyway. because if u scout him over time he just changes it up. U need to do all your scouting and rob him in a very clsoe interval, which u need an established and wealthy home owner to do, which means you need to blow up any commitment traps as well to ensure a safe return. So yea, he will need to be around 50k to be worth doing. AT LEAST 30k id say.

I cbf setting up a second account, and the old trick of deleting the download code appears to no longer work. So in my laziness ill sit back and call myself an elitist... purist... artist... faggot whilst looking down my nose at the dual-accounters... even tho idc anymore really. Two hour chills negates a lot of the dual account benefit too.

#94 Re: Main Forum » A few things id like to say after returning to TCD + request for Jason » 2014-09-13 10:57:50

meh the current 2 hour chills does seem sufficient, it was just getting to me that i would get so close to making a large robbery only to have it snatched away at the last second.

Stein id need to see at least 50k or more as your value to make it worthwhile robbing using a single account. I cant suicide scout as you keep changing it up.

#95 Re: Main Forum » Who was George John Rodriguez? » 2014-09-13 10:48:04

yea i thought u may have needed the chihuahua at ur feet to get past somehow... i didnt pursue that avenue of assault very far after finding an alternative weak spot

#96 Re: Main Forum » Who was George John Rodriguez? » 2014-09-13 10:43:53

yea i got past that bit too, its the bit after that where u traverse to southern most trap door and you have the pitbull in front of you, behind him is a standard "pit bull 2 spaces behind you to pass" leap of faith that i couldnt figure out.

The nothern-most trap door you can take leads you ultimately to a dead end, even if you brick the switch to get over the second trap door, upon stepping on that same swith it reveals a corridor going north with a cat that locks itself behind a powered door, which was a dead end behind it anyway. That cat needs to be scared south via a door near the entrance i believe.

That was a very complicated house, and still actually couldnt figure out how to get past the leap of faith trap with the pit bull at the bottom of the map.

I tend to find that if you over-complicate your house it tends to leave significant weak spots like the one that allowed me to clean you out. Kudos on the nice design and it took me 4 suicide runs and I had to rob Mr Barnes to fund my fifth run and robbery of you.

The 17k + painting was put to good use in building a good portion of my new masterpiece. Thankyou.

Banning accounts requires a lot of man-hours and resources, time better spent thinking up new features etc.

Automatic prevention is best. A distant second is automatic detection of suspicious accounts.

Also, what happens when you are on holiday? Or sick? or cbf? or have had enough for a while? or move your focus to a new project? Active enforcement does not instill confidence within the community for minor and common offences unless its for something very unusual or serious.

Do yourself a favour and asshole the active enforcement idea except for extremely unique cases.

Maybe you should starve to death if you dont meet the minimum 8 hrs exposure per day? Something along those lines anyway.

#99 Re: Main Forum » Reboot News plus open call for iPhone Beta testers » 2014-09-11 10:05:16

the feature i suggested will also stop shenanigans like what lordofham did

#100 Re: Main Forum » Reboot News plus open call for iPhone Beta testers » 2014-09-11 09:41:07

Sounds like each house needs to have a minimum exposure time of say 8 hours per day (whilst you are sleeping), else you will be kicked out of your house until that minimum is reached.

I could see that working then
