$200 seems too cheap indeed. $600 seems to fit in with the other tool pricing, no?

#152 Re: Main Forum » Corporations » 2013-11-18 00:47:57

i have often wondered about upgradeable houses, but it definitely adds a whole new level of balancing issues where the rich become too powerful.

i kind of giggled too at $25k being called a lot of money in this game :s cheapest houses i have planned out lately are around $30,000 in wood with minimal storm-bracing.
it is nice with the new/returning players though, seems to be a lot more money slushing around to be robbed in fun and exciting ways! i'll have to try and save up and build something neat~

oh, has anyone figured out merril lewis yet? that dang dog keeps walking on the buttons!

As far as I know this doesn't actually fix it.  Unless somethings changed, I recall having a lovely set of closed trapdoors in a house from a previous version (when I could afford them).  I loved this, as it enabled me to get around and edit more easily.

Share?  Or is it considered cheating to enable something like this?

oh, hmm. that seems odd then!

uhh sharing.. i don't think it is cheating because there is no real in-play advantage, just a lot less having to delete and replace walls as you move around. i would liken it to using button 4 on your mouse to go back in your browser rather than clicking the back button.

you can do it yourself pretty easily, find every wall/window/vault/pit, duplicate the 0 state folder and rename is 1, go back into the 0 state folder and change properties file to remove the 'blocking'

the game uses a houseobjects 0 state in build mode, and then 1 in a robbery - or if there is no 1, it defaults back to 0. so basically, wooden walls for example have a 0 state, then 2 for broken, 3 or burned, etc. but no 1. i just copied the default 0 to 1, and changed the properties of 0 to remove 'blocking' and now i can walk over them in build mode but they go back to blocking me in robbery/test mode.

i have been using this for a while and haven't failed any server tests, so i would say for now it is safe for now.

if you return home to powered trap doors, when you have finished reviewing the robbed state of the house, simply click 'done' and then exit the self test immediately and the house will reset to everything powered off.

are you sure it didn't have a dead critter inside it? i think a dead critter causes a new trapdoor to be purchased. that stink of death lingers!

edit this gave me an idea!

perhaps the build screen could have an on/off button on the UI that will cause the power supplies to run their power through the current set of electronics laid down? turning it off would simply reset to regular build mode display (no saving up power in the little batteries people make).

or would that confuse new players (and old ones?) who are trying to test their clocks? hmm. food for thought anyhow! (obviously you shouldn't be able to kill yourself in build mode, and i know it is possible to have every tile as non-deadly/blocking in build mode.. because i kind of made myself a mod for that.)

i believe wife holds the bounty money if she shoots the intruder.

also for the record, spending $30,000 to rob/destroy a house with a robbable value of $3 is not uncommon when i am around.

oh cool! gogo vintage screenshot thread!

#157 Re: Main Forum » Can you rotate objects in build mode? » 2013-11-16 14:33:32

while i wanted this a long, long time ago. electronics have gotten to the point where i am afraid allowing the rotation of voltage triggers would allow for much more compact electronics, and thus expanding the already crazy degree of magic you can wield with electronics.

i am not much a fan of the clocks. dancing back and fourth on two squares every now and then to figure out a pattern doesn't feel like a very deep gameplay area for a robber. maybe better suited to the old blueprint puzzle game mode.

#158 Re: Main Forum » What's Your Dumbest Mistake? » 2013-11-15 04:26:24

pft my house was just to see if i could get brewington working with the changes. didn't need much modification really, was quite surprised by that.
and yes, as it was a very old design it was not designed to entrap anyone. enough people were willing to dive into the pits though, i really didn't do that much robbing. i really found it strange how many people would take 200-500 moves in the house pushing the buttons and then just jump in the pit. and i mean the pit by the front door, not even the trapdoor up the hall to see if it'd pop up or not!

how much did it cost, i am not sure. initially i made it out of wood and substituted a lot of trapdoors with lights, so it was around $29,000. then i layered it up with some metal and added more trapdoors. maybe another $20,000? and then yesterday i spent $69,000 adding pits and concrete and pitbulls everywhere for no reason, and then spent $20,000 on water bottles and another $20,000 on a painting. can't remember if i dropped the water bottles into the twisting nether or left them in my vault. i am sure i left the house with $300-800 anyway.

would be interested to see if anyone could even be bothered to figure it out tongue 11,000 in-game dollarinos to anyone who wants to even try!

#162 Re: Main Forum » castledraft.com — another house editor » 2013-11-12 12:42:23

seems people are having trouble finding the recordedGame files!

open up your castle doctrine folder, go into settings folder, open recordGame.ini and make sure it's contents are '1' and not '0.' save!

next time you open up the game, when you leave your house you should then find the 'recordedGames' folder inside castle doctrine folder, with films named; recordedGame00001.txt, 00002, 3, 4, etc.

crack open your newest file and your house code should be the first big line beginning with 998#998#998#998#998#998#998#998#998#998#998#998#998#998#.. etc. very long string smile

#163 Re: Main Forum » What's Your Dumbest Mistake? » 2013-11-12 12:36:44

silliest mistakes.. probably when the indicator lights were added and i would keep thinking 'YEP GLOWING ORANGE THAT IS JUST A LIGHT' and stepping on live grids all the time.

i still don't trust anything glowing orange.

if there is a $90 profit to be made, take them out clubbing!

#165 Re: Main Forum » I have a idea/Idea Forum/Saving money/non purchased acc/maps » 2013-11-11 12:03:51

oh, map screenshots, exciting! as much as i love castledraft, i also love ukuko too much to keep poking him about making the walls/pits properly expand, what with the amount of needless coding that probably entails.

had no idea about the = screenshot button! so many hidden goodies

#166 Re: Main Forum » 2 Cents From a Newbie » 2013-11-11 11:59:33

i think i fraps'd a few good tape, if you reaalllllyyy want to keep them you can always try that!

regarding the cost of house, you can import your house to http://castledraft.com/ and it'll tell you how much it costs to build smile

#167 Re: Main Forum » Clocks! » 2013-11-08 19:03:24

time to put some sticky buttons into a series of clocks so people have to tune it themselves before venturing into the death maze? yikes

works fine with something conductive in-between, but i am imagining this case is unintentional.

#175 Re: Main Forum » heres a glitch for you » 2013-10-31 09:17:25

you can always mouseover a pit to read the tooltip, it will let you know if there is anything dead in there smile
