Opinion on Paintings?

I just bought my first painting ever in TCD. I've been playing since v30 and usually before I have the money to get one from the auctions I die self-testing my house, or in someone else's house if I get bored waiting for people to try and rob me. So, I'm very happy to have finally been able to acquired a painting.

Now I'm curious though, what are your guys' opinions on paintings? If you don't have one, would you like to? What do you think when you walk into a house that has paintings?

Re: Opinion on Paintings?

I like paintings. They are a good endgame, because otherwise there is nothing to spend your money on when you have fully upgraded your house. What painting did you buy? I just recently bought my first painting for my current house. I got "A Snail In The Sun", one of the best in my opinion.

Re: Opinion on Paintings?

"A Snail In The Sun" is pretty awesome.

I got "Dermatillomanian Abyss" by Alex Diamond. It's one of the few very abstract ones that I like.

Re: Opinion on Paintings?

I concur "A Snail In The Sun" is amazing. It also has nostalgia value on my case since it was the very first painting I managed to rob smile

Re: Opinion on Paintings?

Thats cool ventus. I've got my eye on Mr. Conley. He's got "Momento Mori". It's my favorite painting and I actually had it but then I stupidly died and he bought it.

Re: Opinion on Paintings?

I went to Mr. Conley's house to see if I could rob "Momento Mori" from him. And, after scouting a few times I thought that I might be able to, but I guess I was wrong... for now.

It was one of the first paintings I stole too, I got it together with other 3 paintings (which weren't anywhere near as good) during a suicide robbery run on a surprisingly poorly constructed 16k home.

Re: Opinion on Paintings?

PS: Are those 5 paintings between Today and Haze in the auction house that look like they are corrupted files supposed to look like corrupted files or are they genuine corrupted files?

I think they are supposed to be like that.

Re: Opinion on Paintings?

You're Mr. Conley, Lord0fHam? The checkerboard used to be mine before one my many stupid deaths. I've got a claim on it because I had acquired it through fair and honest thievery.

Re: Opinion on Paintings?

Paintings are actually a reason for me not to rob a house, as I only want paintings I really like in my gallery.

lol Ham, I actually did find your house and tried to rob you after I died in Mr Conley's place. Your house is scary, in 24 hours I don't think I'll be coming back. I know your name now though tongue

Yeah I use that nifty commit so I don't get anyone who isn't REALLY set on getting me to try and rob me. No scouting for you!

You owned a painting called "Momento Mori" and then you died? LOL.

Look up the definition of momento mori.

Re: Opinion on Paintings?

It's hard to imagine castle doctrine without paintings. I got most of mine through theft, but I've bought sarsaparilla day and sarsaparilla night. I'm trying to find sarsaparilla sunset, but no luck so far (actually, if someone could let me know what my name is, I would appreciate it. I'm on the front page with about 38k value and the above two paintings, as well as watermelon and the fake version of sky).

Paintings are a big plus when I'm considering robbing a house, that way if I don't make any money or even lose some I still get something out of it. It's almost always cheaper to steal really nice paintings than it is to pay 15-18k for them on the auction house as well.

Your name is William Adam Keene

My painting I had was only 9k when I got it, which is one of the reasons I was so happy to have had it. But I guess that's a moot point now that I died, lol.

Thanks guys, that's actually a pretty cool name, I was expecting it be something silly. And yes, now that I think about it I probably have drawn a lot of attention to myself by posting that, see you all soon tongue.

Re: Opinion on Paintings?

Well I'll not actually be robbing you. That entrance takes way too much money to scout. I'll just wait till you die and then buy that sweet beetle painting, and maybe the watermelon one.

Did you also own blio and watermelon? I stole the two of them and sky together with the same robbery. Did I steal it from you, or did I take it from someone else I wonder?
