Re: Puzzle Castle

Value down to 100 after some added power cables (1 brick will solve it, but that will soon change)

Re: Puzzle Castle

It was you! I thought so when I saw house where I need to run around. To be honest I don't know how I solved it. I just ran around and tried to figure out how the maze looks from inside based on the delay it takes for chihuahua to get to the window. I'm not sure where the second chihuahua disappeared. But I solved it! big_smile

Re: Puzzle Castle

David Michael Scott! Congratulations! It took you 765 moves, but you got it! You nearly didn't... there's a certain step you need to make once. You did it once (around 500 steps in) then nearly did it again, which would have kept the door closed!  You didn't solve it the way I intended though, so I will make a slight amendment.  One switch in the right place ought to do it...

The chihuahua... he took a little nap.

Re: Puzzle Castle

I've evolved the plan again. Now, it's a little more dangerous outside, but still no commit gates anywhere.  Also, cutting anywhere will lock the door permanently.

@Osmium_Planet thanks! I prefer thinking houses to guessing houses.

Re: Puzzle Castle

So I've gone through a few iterations since I last posted. I don't know my name, but I'm currently at 3k, 1:1.

There's a square surrounded by a nasty looking electric fence.

To solve the whole puzzle, first you need to solve the square (no one has managed it yet, despite one player even getting a look inside).

If you solve it, you can then leave satisfied, or if you wish, venture further at your own peril (commit gates a-plenty).

Re: Puzzle Castle

So it seems I'm James Roger Varga (thanks tigerbalm immunity - nice username!)

The first part, the large square in the middle, is still commit free and will stay that way. The second part is more dangerous and best not attempted without solving the first part first.

Re: Puzzle Castle

well AMWhy. i solved your cube, and could not for the life of me figure out how it would help with the later part of the house. save for 1 small part. the end bit where the vault is made no sense to me, i couldnt figure out how to do it without tools. i really tried to get through your house without tools, and only use them to scout. but in my last run, i accidentally committed myself and could not turn back without stealing your vault. so im sorry, i wouldnt have robbed you if i could have gone back. i wanted to learn the solution and do it tool-less. but the cube was really cool, i enjoyed figuring it out smile im still super curious how to do the last bit, please give me a hint or something! ill go back to solve it if i can just figure it out

Re: Puzzle Castle

I've just looked through your videos, Nakula.  I understand why you had to take it!  You did well, and a quick addition of your tools used on all trips comes to 11,900.  Assuming they were from failed attempts on your house, this could drop to 5,950, meaning you would have made a small profit from robbing my house.  Your solution at the end to reach the safe that way (with only 1 of that expensive tool) was clever and one I hadn't considered!  I'll have to change that when I earn a little cash again.  For now, I'll put the safe inside the cube until I can rebuild funds to reset the main part.

The fact that you can't connect the two together is good for me smile
All I will say is that for a no-tool heist, solving the square is vital to reaching the vault.

Wow, I've just totted up the damage you did - over 2500 worth! It will take me a while to get back where I was!

Re: Puzzle Castle

all the tools except the bomb i used to scout the cube were from dead people. so i still think i might have broken even at best. but i wasnt in it for the payout big_smile i could have solved it for much cheaper, but i wanted to scout almost everything cause my mission was to do your house tool-less. so tell me if im right about this. if you keep the final commit gate intact, and keep both switches toggled on, will the end be crossable? this is the only theory i can come up with, but i dont feel like spending the money to scout it out big_smile

Re: Puzzle Castle

*Sigh*. Since you robbed my vault I have got back on my feet again. No one has come close since, and I've made around 20k and a lot of changes.
However, with a couple of new pits added I took my usual route to open the cube then head to the safe.  However, there was a loose cat that somehow managed to get killed on one of my gratings. This meant another part of the solution wouldn't work and I ended up stuck after a commit gate with no way to solve it.

What this means is I will now have a few hour break before restarting again.  ho-hum...

Re: Puzzle Castle

i was at work today thinking of your house, when the cat came to mind! i figured, somehow, that cat must be involved in the solution. anyway, one day ill figure it out i guess. FYI i have 70-80% of your house saved in castle draft if you want it for reference.

Re: Puzzle Castle

The cat was a red herring!  Thanks for the offer, but the vault section I have memorised (I've built it many times!).
The square, I will change the insides next time.  Can't have the same maze again! tongue

Re: Puzzle Castle

Glad to hear that!  I'm using the same vault trap for my starter (1k cost) then I'll start to build a maze with my.... earnings.

Re: Puzzle Castle

Well, I have a new house up and running, although I haven't built the puzzle part yet.  At present, it's not a safe place: there's a pitbull running loose.  However, after another kill or two, I'll make the puzzle and move the pitbull to a safer location.

For anyone interested, I'm currently at 6300.  0:0.  If you go straight up from the entrance (a safe open area) you will find my dead family, Sylvia, Stephanie and Jacob.
