I have a question, because before I saw some of the posts in this forum, I assumed that combination locks would require a random number of right switches (like 3 out of 8 switches needed to be pressed) but then I saw some posts saying how they had one correct switch.
Are all combination locks just 1 switch is a right answer or do some have multiple switches required, and if so, how do each of these work?

well i had this one puzzle where there were 8 switches (4 up, 4 down) where i had to press the middle 2 up and the outside ones down

Combination locks need to have the correct combination of switches pressed.
ON off off off is a different combination to off ON off off
The creator can choose the combination, and it could be any amount of switches and in any specific order, for example they might make it so you have to imput ON off ON ON off off off ON ON off if it were a 10 bit combination lock.
I haven't seen any that rely only on the amount of switches pressed.
