Disconnect scouts.

so i've seen it mentioned a few times and while im not a fan of the principle how does a disconnect scout work?
i understand how it is done you force yourself to lose connection while scouting to prevent the house owner from viewing the tapes. but what happens to the tools? if i bring in 1K tools and blow em all on walls only to d/c when the owner comes back will he find all of those tools in his inventory? also is this a similar result to going AFK for 5 min or getting killed by 'cops'?

While i find the videos to be some of the most satisfactory things in the game and hate to rob people of them i do want to know the details of this since i've seen it used a few times.

Disonnect gives all tools to the owner. I think AFK 5 min and the cops are both lead to a disconnect video. But it is different for the robber, because a AFK immediately kills you, whereas the cops get you when leaving the house.
