One thing I learned the hard way is that you need to wall your power sources,it is pretty obvious but sometimes a burglar with just one saw and a bottle of water can ruin your cleverly designed commit trap so ...
Learned this the hard way after running my entire house on one power source lol.
Pro Tip: Shotguns beat clubs, every time.

Reality: You can use that trick to your favor: Make that single Power source run a trapdoor blocking access to vault. Thus shorting that Power source will make access to vault more difficult.

Man as soon as I can I'm replacing all my electric grids with trap doors. They're a little bit tougher to wire up, but have so much more potential

Wish you could die from being crushed in a powered door... that would be funny. So many cool trap ideas.
If I vanish it's not due to a burglar shooting me as well as my wife while making his way to the vault....
I'm just a burst player.

Yeah, I second that!

wait... you mean you act as a doorstop when a powerdoor closes on you?

You can press '+' during editing or tape playback to save an image of the entire map into the mapShots folder.
How do you open *.tga files?

Yes. The door will close once you move again though.

Paint.net works, and I think Gimp does too.

Here's something I thought of (unless there is something about the mechanics I don't know about). If you plan on making money through bounties and you don't plan on robbing... sell all the tools in your vault if you still have your wife. She can hold half of your money, but she can't hold half of your tools. It keeps your safe from being the majority of your wealth.
Unknown.... thanks Blip
Unknown again because I thought I'd go on a no-tool revenge run on Blip. Silly me........
Never risk what you aren't willing to lose.
Be willing to lose everything.

If you feel that you've missed something, either while walking you own house or others, retrace your steps and leave. Always trust your instincts. I've disregarded my own too many times - and more often than not it leads to death.

I've learned my wife really doesn't keep half the money unless you log into your house. Really makes the wife kind of useless.

Robbers who bring 2k in tools will either bring an even number of bricks, or no bricks, because it's the only tool ending in 50.
Keep this in mind when you add windows to your house.
What you are building is dangerous.

To help clarify wife money handling rules, I lifted this (whee!) from a General thread on the subject and I think this is how it goes currently:
The wife gets half of the total money, even-steven, every time you return home and either edit something OR buy/sell tools. This re-division does not happen if you return home to buy paintings but don't edit the house or buy/sell tools.
After that, while you are away, the wife gets bounties from any robbers that SHE kills directly with the shotgun. Other bounties (from deaths elsewhere in the house), plus tools from all dead robbers, are added to the vault.
There are currently no salaries paid, and I don't think that's going to change.

I learned something new about mapshots ("+"-key) today: There is a difference between a mapshot in build mode and in robbing mode.
Build mode: All electronics are inactive and all doors are open.
Robbing mode: Electronics are active and all (red) doors are initially closed. To make a mapshot in robbing mode you have to play one of your tapes, it won't work in a self-test.

Tip: don't neglect a great concept. Don't tell loyal fans that you don't give a crap about them. Oh wait....
I respected a lot of your posts and logic but...
