Rotary Switch

In my time playing TCD I have only seen one clever implementation of a rotary switch. I have replicated a similar design here.

Granted, the actual house was much trickier, but the idea remains.

In all the advanced electronics threads the rotary switch is nowhere to be seen. Anyone have any ideas on a novel use for the switch, or really anything that justifies its existence? I'd hope for something that involves pressing the switch multiple times, but I can't really think of anything that a regular toggle switch would do.

Re: Rotary Switch

I think it's mainly usable for saving up some space, but otherwise everything that rotary switch can do can be done with toggle switch and some gates.

Re: Rotary Switch

If you come to my house and get past the first couple of traps, you might come to a room that looks like this:

It's not hard to get through... but you have to take a pitbull with you in order to get past the next commit gate.

I'm curious if anyone finds a solution other than the one I have in mind.

Very nice. That gave me an idea to make rotary switch grid where you need to switch them to make a specific path in order to disable some trap later in the house. But still it's very similar to toggle switch grid.

EDIT: btw. the solution is quite easy to figure out - when you go from bottom left: up, right, right, right, down, up, up, up, right, up

EDIT2: I missed the pitbull smile With pitbull it would be harder smile

Re: Rotary Switch

One of my old houses had something almost exactly like that, lights!

In the bottom left you need to step onto the shotgun once you pass the commit gate to make the cat go up and hit the rotary switch or you need to brick the switch yourself. Otherwise you need a ladder to cross the trapdoor. (To be safe, though, you need a ladder to cross it anyway, since that trapdoor is a cut trap)

From this position, it's >^>>v>^>^^^>. I think.

>^^>^^>>v>^> might also work, I'd have to test it.

I'm stumped if the starting position is this though. Unless the dog is behind a door, in which case there are plenty of solutions, since I could freely press all the switches beforehand. Like all good houses, hidden information is the best weapon.

In all seriousness I'm still poking around here and there. I just feel like the game has nothing left to offer me.
