which do you prefer?

I uses commit gates and Surprise Death Trap if they dare to explore to much without at least 2 saw or one gun they're simply dead.
But I prefere commit gates because it's evil.

I have noticed after you obtain enough cash, commit gates are no longer needed. You attract robbers that don't want to leave.
Your allowed 3 steps into my house. Any more than that and your mine.

what are your favorite surprise death traps? i've liked the one with the wife + pit bull path that Blip posted earlier.

My favorites are certainly surprise commit gates! ("Where did this dog come from..... oh....")
although the standard "upper path is electrified floor, lower path leads to window, oh, dog steps on button to un-electrify floor, gee whiz im trapp" traps are getting tiring. Likewise the "powered door right next to entrance" ones.
Whenever I do santa runs and see something like that (or some other copy-pasted designs, or combo locks), I instead use my 2k tools trying to reach the vault and donate my bounty to a worthier candidate.
The history of all hitherto existing society is the history of farts.

This only applies, if you are not above ~20k. Experienced robbers scout you and for 20k they can invest in a bunch of tools to do so.
I like trapdoor commits, because they force at least a ladder for scouting.

I use a reinforced commit gate of which if you try to go back, you die. (Unless you have 9 water, or 13 saws).

My commit gates are surprise death traps
(one of the most common example for this would be one of those electric floors that seem switch-based but is in fact also clock-based)

I refuse to use commit gates and combination locks. It hasn't been a terribly profitable ideal to hold but I have finally made it to the first page of houses (Rex Nathan Haven)

LOL i saw what u did there....
Implying that ur poxy magic dance is less cheesy than commitment traps?
You can stop right there Mr Haven. Im locking you in with your pitbull behind the powered doors you need to dance into closing so you can think about what you just said.
BTW i have a decent pile of notes on ur place, just waiting for it to rise in a value a bit before I relieve you of your funds
In truth despite my dislike of magic dances, ive come to realize that the game's current state is actually quite balanced and allows for all sorts of different viable trapping techniques, each with its own weakness. Although there is one that really stands out as being truly creative and effective which is starting to become more common.

I never said anything about cheesy, I just said I refuse to use them.
One magic dance does not a cheese house make, however. Come at me if you think your notes are good enough, I'm still hopefully waiting for some intrepid robber to get past my first line of defense. Maybe its you!

Really? no one has even gotten past that first trap?
Better check your tapes again Mr Haven.
Oh and if you think updating your house is going save you, then you are sorely mistaken... Mr haven.

My mistake. I frequently forget about the pit behind the door, who plenty of people have evaded. Is the next one that no one has broken.
