A General List of General ideas

I'm new to posting on the forum, but have been reading for awhile. As for my experience, I wouldn't say I'm green, but I still wouldn't say I'm a veteran. The name's Robert Donald Conley, nice to meet you. I'm still working off my original design with a commitment trap stolen from Aavak. I know, I know, shame on me, but that's what you get when you don't Castle-Patent it. Anyway, the purpose I have for writing this is dual pronged. Firstly, to put a bug in Jason's ear regarding a few ideas I had, and two, to get others thinking of new ideas. Trying to keep in the theme of complete loss and extreme caution, etc, here are a few things I'd been pondering:

1. I saw a post on the forum today very similar to what I had been thinking about incorporating a neighborhood, however, the way I pictured it, you'd have to physically walk around the block like you               .   were robbing/editing a house.
     a. There could be a day/night cycle, and depending on the amount of crime near where you live, a curfew be set in place. If a patrolling cop were to see you, you could be arrested/fined/what have .        you.
     b. The streets could be dangerous, with other players traveling the same streets. Sometimes it could be possible to be attacked. Getting caught assaulting someone could bring a few months prison    .        time. Murder 25 to life or the electric chair
     c. The list would be gone, making casing the area necessary. Daytime could be safe from street attacks (maybe)
     d. You could move to a wealthier neighborhood with a yard you must go through, or larger floor space in the home, or a second/third floor.

2. Your floor space becomes your limiting factor after some success. Why not have a way to expand it? Sure, it could require exorbitant prices, or maybe having a specific set of paintings, forcing you   .   to find and take down that guy who has that last painting you need.

3. A registry of painting owners.

4. A master security tape that shows all robbers at once, step for step, since the last modification of your home (preferably the last real modification. I usually place a wall, then remove it and run the validation of my home because the 0-0 rating draws in more robbers. In the end, my house hasn't changed at all, just got its number reset.)
     a. Could alternatively be a layout of your current home with numbers over each tile indicating how many died on that specific tile. More in-depth, you could hover over it and have it read: 2 fried, 2 eaten, 2 shot, 2 suicided, etc.

     I had more earlier, but the rest escape me at the moment. What do you guys think? I'd love to see the police play a bigger role, not as protectors, but as prosecutors. Like they say, when seconds matter, the police are just minutes away.

There are some good ideas here, although a curfew based on real time would be a nightmare for some players (I live in South Korea - I don't want to see a curfew every time I log in!). Better would be to have the day-night cycle on a 2 hour basis (every other hour is night-time: reduced visibility when walking the streets and danger from police patrols/other players with a specific tool). During daytime, you would be able to walk around freely, but breaking in to houses would be noticed by neighbours, so the response time from police would be shorter.

Oh! and the ability to pass a turn. No need to step, but just a button you could hit to wait one turn. Also the ability to place broken walls, grates, etc.

I like that. plenty of flexibility for busy schedules and varying time zones

Passing a turn would change the whole dynamic of the game. At present, perfect dog placement means the difference between a bat and a gun. Passing a turn would make house defence a lot harder!
