Re: Funniest Home Surveillance Tapes

naw that wasn't my house.  probably the other Carroll.

Mine had a fake combo lock at the start that was a trap.  everything was pretty much concrete and dogs everywhere, lots of electric floors and powered doors.

That's what happens when people lose connection to the server after entering a house. Poor bloke must be very annoyed if he was going well enough to have that kind of bounty.

Now that I think about it... I think this is a player with dual account, because a rich player broke in after him to get the 'stashed' money.

Maybe, but not necessarily. I like to hover between the 1-5k mark and poke my head into houses with 1-1 or 2-1. I've picked up several thousand from abandoned vaults numerous times. I also have a list of about 10 names at the very bottom of the list which are broken. You'd be surprised how often they show up in the 1-5k range with large amounts of cash and tools. I've even noticed that some people have a tendency to go on suicide runs and dump 1k in all of the bottom houses.

Re: Funniest Home Surveillance Tapes

I thought it might have been me, because I remember the vault 2 spaces in front of the door. Like I said, keep a close eye on the types of houses I mentioned above and you would really be surprised how often gifts like that arise. Also all of the houses at the bottom of the list with hundreds of attempts (obviously broken) show up very frequently with thousands of dollars in them.

Nah, that was a 'Fortress Theory' house. He did it for fun, not for exploiting. smile

Additionally, this house is already gone. sad

did you guys know that if you kill someone's kids, and the wife is still in the house with a shotgun, she will come after you instead of leaving? that was awkward...

Yeah, she'll turn around and head toward the kid you killed.

Re: Funniest Home Surveillance Tapes

Well my boring invincible house finally got bulldozed by a boring invincible (and not too bright) tool spammer.
I'm gonna leave it up as a sort of community chest until I get the itch to play again, which feels like it will be quite a while.

I Hope you enjoy some of these.

Ten: ePyM4cL.gif
Eleven: ayy9xTJ.gif
Twelve: PxK9nGu.gif

And here's my house, give or take a couple of mistakes updating a slightly out of date draft with a lack of fucks given: http://castledraft.com/editor/rWj9eq

It was supposed to be (and was for a while) a good balance between security and entertainment,
but by adding those two powered pits making it so that you need precise timing to get a specific dog to get you through a commitment gate I really went too far.
You might think collecting enough art eventually attracts a better class of robber. You'd be wrong.

Re: Funniest Home Surveillance Tapes

Your name was Jeffrey Todd Semple, and what I liked best about your house (though I didn't get very far. didn't yet figure out how to pull a dog across the leaps of faith) was that your clock mechanics were well-meshed within the house. People don't usually realize that the clock mechanics themselves aren't that important -- the cycle is no secret, and it's usually far easier for a robber to avoid short-circuiting them -- and thus, the clock mechanics don't need to be secreted away somewhere, taking up 1/4 of the whole house just for 1 trap.

Anyway, nice house.

Re: Funniest Home Surveillance Tapes

- spending 17k for 7 nice paintings is a quite a bargain in my book
- got money to burn (~26k difference to next place)
- I had about a hundred saws, water and meat in my safe before I started
- I'd rather lose money than my life -> I bring tools to spare
- drawing a map makes you revisit areas to make sure you got every little detail peeking out under the shroud
- drawing a map takes time, I had multiple sirens that prevented me from using all my tools

- why deal with dogs chasing you through clock triggered traps and commit gates when a bomb, a ladder, a saw and a brick make short work of it, its even cheaper than the tools you'd need to go back through the commit gates
- you have a 10bit lock that unleashes 48 dogs, yet can be avoided with 3 saws and a ladder
- you have a 14bit lock that spans the entire width of the map that triggers a single trapdoor
imho you have no right to call other players stupid or complain about tool use

If you are so smart why don't you come to my house to show me how it's done.
If you get past the first part without tools (even if you die later) I will give you back your paintings and money (by placing the safe there at a time of your choosing). The first part is over if you see a chihuahua.

Re: Funniest Home Surveillance Tapes

Breaks into combo lock, comes back and breaks into same combo lock again, breaks other things he doesn't have to because he's already seen how they work - some of which are dead simple, novelty completely over head, comes on forum to defend his pride (despite probably unidentified and that nobody cares or should necessarily believe me)...

I take it back. You are the cleverest.

Re: Funniest Home Surveillance Tapes

I wasn't breaking into the combo lock, I was going through it rather than chancing to unleash the dogs (hadn't seen the part with the IVS.)

I probably could have done the clock part as intended, but keeping the way back open would have been more expensive than simply going through the wall.

If you aren't going to take my offer why don't you at least post the videos where I rob you, then people can see how stupid I am.

You might want to fix up your house. I'm down to 12k for 7 paintings.
