[solved] water vs electric floor

OK so sometimes i can water a floor - sometimes  i can't.

several times I have tried to water it,  can't,  and then try to walk on it and die.
So not being able to put water on the electric floor is not an indicator of it not being powered.
The electric meter doesn't work either so.  What gives?

Is there a way to tell if a floor is electric or not other than the  blueprint?

If so, then why can i put water sometimes and other times not?

thanks for anyone who can shed some light on this because its very frustrating to lose a game because you don't understand the rules.

Re: [solved] water vs electric floor

You can only water a floor when it's on.
A floor can be turned on by a dog the moment you step on it.
Hence you can have a floor that you can't water but that will still kill you when you step on it.

The thing to look for on the blueprint is dogs that trigger switches.

Yes, this is key to understanding how traps work, that all animals will trigger switches, that dogs follow you over the entire map and cats run away from you.

Re: [solved] water vs electric floor

The electric floor will be grey when it's off and orange when it's on.
You can only put water on it when it's turned on, but often people will have it so it only turns on when you step on it so you can't just pour water on it.
