I don't know, but it definitely wasn't someone scouting, again it was total brute force
sorry it wasn't you Amatiel, I was rooting for you after I talked as much shit as I did! So who the hell is Corey Phillip Smith atm?
Offline
Yep
Thats eppfel
EDIT: Also, combo lock based houses are very vulnerable to brute force. They do prevent suicide scouting well if they are big enough, but it makes them much more vulnerable to brute force.
Try to think of something else perhaps next time?

somebody go die in my place with a couple hundred dollars worth of tools so I can fix it tonight? I need to go fishing tomorrow! IRL fishing no less!

btw - I think that makes my house 3 for 3 on eppfel, soon people are going to start calling me nothing but a fake account for eppfel where he stores his wealth/paintings lol

gotta lose the combo locks man

I'm all open for suggestions! Do tell what are your favorite traps these days? Despite combo lock my favorite is actually the cat trap:

obviously the person should be killed if they go south, but there have been exceptions. Finch? he plowed right through that cat trap. But beforehand? I bet that cat trap claimed nearly a thousand lives.

try to think up something original. Something that the more experienced players wont instantly recognize.

ok, so right now I want an api for querying video feeds jason, if it so happens you're listening!
Then I would start working on a D3 client that would start displaying hot zones, like a heat map.
Wouldn't that be sexy?

Was it yew??????
At least, it worked as I wanted to and I had all the tools lying around and therefore spend just 10k, so quite a profit.
I'm all open for suggestions!
As Amatiel said: Combo locks are bad for scouting, but easy to brute force, so lame tapes to watch. In my opinion animal movement is the thing, where you still can innovate. Especially if you create traps that depend on each other.
Get back to robbing and creativity returns. I had no ideas after Longoria, but the 2h chills got me excited for robbing again and now i have fun building again.

Super sexy, but I think Jason's work on this is over. I thought about a program, which runs through your recordedGames folder and creates statistics, like, how many house, deaths, death-tolls, etc.

Okay, boredom is setting in. I miss robbing! I'm going to take a crack at Corey Philip Smith. Not something I've ever done before! (trying to brute force a house, that is!)
Offline
Success! Easier than I thought after that first thing that I did. I just wish I'd taken less tools...
Edit: A clever map, though. I had no idea I'd find what I did there...

Agr, that was a short time in wealth. I had no time to finish the house and the second cat trap did not work. Otherwise both doors would have been shut and you would have to bypass with a lot of ladders or taken another route. But good for you, you were my next target. ;-)
No hard feelings about my houses. Although I would like to see people solve my houses for once, instead of brute force.

Yo, so can someone here name me all the players who are still playing? Because you are obviously all the top end players, some with multiple accounts (hiss boo...) others not. Can someone quickly make a list for me? Just So I know how active this place still is? Thanks.
Also, what are people's stances on Timer Dog Traps? Like this one...

I used to use this for a 2k house, until people just started to BF it

To be fair, Eppfel, I did solve both Rodriguez and Case. I also knew I was your next target so decided to strike first
Edit: @Osmium Planet, that's a beautiful trap! Imagine that surrounded by a little cement and you have an excellent puzzle to solve.
Edit2: I now have 133 paintings - The most I've ever had. 155 was the record, right? Not that I'm after it...

@AMWhy 150 for Longoria/Eppfel I believe is the record, 155 is the total number of paintings in the game!
Offline
To be honest, I won't go for it. Longoria was back in the day when there were a lot more active players. Now, it wouldn't mean anything. I think his record should stand.

At the risk of looking like I jump into every thread and say, "the reboot version will do that". This is something I do want Terminal Heist to do. It seems to me the game is ripe to have way more statistics, both on players and houses. I want to create a detail view on house that extra information like total visits, total robs and total kills (not just since last rebuild), total money spent (some of these may only be viewable to the owner of the house). Also. in TH, users are going to have one username. I will also keep stats on the users and their robberies. Total number of successful robberies, number of flees, number of deaths. We could also have achievement badges : the $1,000,000 total take badge, the 100 wives killed badge, etc...

Man, I'm not going to have a life left when you release TH, Cullman!

I am no longer active in the game, only on the message board
I did a line of houses like this, where it looked like a leap of faith but it didn't work. As you've noticed, the primary problem is as soon as your value cracks $4k, a $2ker can just water, meat and ladder it.
I also did a series of houses where the vault was visible from the welcome mat, just for fun. One of them was similar in that it was a "timer" but way harder to brute force than the one you presented. It's documented in this thread (only one person solved it out of many who tried).
Offline
@Cullman, you have to have that house as a puzzle house to solve. Imagine the frustrated players!
