[Suggestion] Be the wife

So yeah, one thing bugging me atm (maybe it is because it's alpha) is that you can't play the wife and have your man stay home

Shouldn't be too hard to implement either, just a new nameset and swapping graphics/words.

Sorry, but this game takes place in 1991. 
The glass ceiling was still in place.

I've thought about this quite a bit. It would be simple to implement, but I dont think that's enough reason to do it. My tl;dr arguments against:

• It would be at odds with the no player customization aspect (i.e. victims could be anyone). This isn't a typical MMO.

• The game is based somewhat on personal experience.

• Sadly, the vast majority of violent crimes and property crimes are committed by men. Something like 90% in 1991.

I actually think the spouse always being female and not, say, a random gender is more problematic.

This has been explained in great detail in a few interviews.

To sum it up:  this is an iconic family, like the one in the 1991 Yellow Pages ad on the website.  See that guy with the mustache in the ad?  You play that guy!

Gender and sexual orientation choices (or randomness) in the game would be distracting, since this is not a game about customizing characters.

Also, the wife earns twice as much salary as the you do...

I'm sure many 1991 families set electric traps in their basement-ish house while Father goes out to rob other houses
But K, i'll take that answer

I'd still argue that in 1991 women were already quite independent, well maybe that was diff in other countries~ But its your game :3

Well, obviously it's not realistic. But thematically, it takes cues from the iconic family in the yellow pages ad.

Who says it's a guy doing the robbing? She's wearing a mask! Sure, she hires a guy to do all that building, but other than that she and her lesbian wife need no guys!

Tbh there's not too much detail stored in those pixels. Pretty sure you could project whomever you desire into either role.

i said this on another forum about another game that features only 'male' sprites. use your imagination and any character can be anything you want it to be. pit bulls are tyrannosaurus rex, doors are magically levitating totem poles that block your way until you make them levitate using mana-wires.

heck, the sprites the game uses are all there to be edited free of charge. where is the CUSTOM SPRITES fan website where we upload our best artistic graphic packs?

brb turning pit bulls into t-rex and my children into alpacas!
