I noticed that the controls on this game are perfectly android compatible and so is the fact that that the game is quite small. I would like to know if you plan to make a port in the future?

Yeah I'd be checking on my house every 10 minutes from work. And be out of a job.

I'm pretty sure anyone could make a port if they wanted to using the source code. I'm kind of thinking along the same lines as jere and Cent though here... it could ruin my life.

I mean you could have a different account (android account and PC account) which would use different servers that didnt link, so this wouldnt force you to use your android. Obviously if you've already paid for the PC version you'd get it free. But it would open the playerbase and I'd love to take a shit in my work office and play Doctrine. Like you said it wouldn't be too hard to port

I think that porting would require just re-writing one file (gameSDL.cpp to make a gameAndroid.cpp) and also obviously whatever wrapper magic is needed to get native code running on Android (instead of Java).
However, I'm too busy to do this right now! A big MaybeSomeday.
Also, I'm not sure that "android sales" would be a clear mechanism for making a server account for each buyer. So, maybe a free android client, but they have to pay for the Mac/PC client to get an account generated?

Sounds fine. You already have movement confirmations too, so that'll help with touch screens. Building might need to be simplified a bit. Maybe a scrollable toolbar or something. God that sounds too awesome... Do it!
(please dont do it)

I think it is a really good idea, and should be optional. Just because some people don't want to 'ruin their lives at work' doesn't mean this idea for a game perfectly fit for this not to be ported. Although it should be optional to have on android and not be a disadvantage if you don't. It would run quick, be easy to port, and the controls are perfect for it.

Please no.
That would absolutely ruin me.
+1 (and I confess that I am secretly expecting to ruin myself...)

You guys don't want an app because you're afraid you'd spend too much time on it in inappropriate places. Childish. We've stated you would not be at a disadvantage if you didn't utilize the app and that it would be optional as well. The is no REAL negative with making this, not even time and effort; as the DEVELOPER has stated himself it wouldn't be too hard. So Jason, please can this 'MaybeSomeday' be a 'InTheSee-AbleFuture'

I meant it in jest. I would be plenty excited if he did do it, and it opens up the game to a new market as well. My only concern is that the game might be a bit of a headache inducer given a phones tiny screen and on screen controls. Perfect for a tablet though.

to keep with tradition, release on ios and then on android six months later

The controls would just be click on the tile you want to walk to that is adjacent to your character, a little arrow you'd tap to bring up your inventory. And the house building controls would be even nicer than on a PC. The tiles are perfect for fingers and you just tap to place. And when has Doctrine ever been traditional. That's what makes it great. So. No.
