funky behaviour!

http://castledraft.com/editor/Mz5Hjq

if you just pop up above the wooden walls in this house, the son will attempt to escape the house. the daughter will run to the mother.

just found this interesting.

Re: funky behaviour!

Does the family still run all the way to the exit even if they can't see the robber?

Re: funky behaviour!

Hmm... it would make sense that, when animal movement was changed recently, the family might have inherited that same behavior: stop moving when the robber is out of sight.

But that's just a wild guess.

Re: funky behaviour!

the son will run all the way to the exit and leave if you hide after the initial spotting, but the daughter just moves over and cuddles mummy

Re: funky behaviour!

Many versions ago I was stuck in this very situation where I was trying to spot the wife from a corner opening and make her run, but after spotting me, she moved one square out of my sight.

Re: funky behaviour!

This happens because the family members can block each other.

The son's shortest path happens to NOT pass through where the wife is standing, but the daughter's path does pass through where the wife is standing.

The wife is not seen when you just pop above the wooden wall, so she remains where she is, blocking the daughter.

Family members pick one path and stick with that path at all costs.  They don't "route around" stuff.
