I added a parameter on the server for the number of vault reaches before vault salary ceases.
This used to be hard-coded at 2.
Now it can be tweaked easily. I have set it to 4 for now, which has brought a bunch of houses back from the dead (some interesting, but most not).

Is it possible that these server changes are what killed me in the middle of self testing? I guess I'm lucky there is all this free money around to start from scratch on.

Shouldn't be... hmm... can you send me a recordedGame of that happening?

Actually, server log shows this happening TWICE to you, due to idleness, over the past few hours... but only leaving the edit, and not killing you.
You were last killed by a stale self test at 11:29 GMT today (September 12). About 5 hours ago. That was before I was updating the server!
If that death was weird to you, it would be great to see a recordedGame for it.

The death was definitely odd, it just suddenly switched to the "You left the house due to inactivity" in the middle of a self test in which I was constantly active and killed me. I have sent you the recordedGame file.

I've noticed that sometimes there is a delay in the 'You left the house due to inactivity' message kicking in. For example, I return to my computer, do 10 seconds or so of building and then get kicked to the lobby.

Ah! I've found the bug on the server that caused this for Josh! Thank you SO much for reporting it. Fixing it now.
ukuko: what you're describing is normal, because sometimes there is a network or server delay in processing a request, so your PING when you return to the game takes a while to get through to the server, where it is rejected because your house has already timed out. But during that delay, you can move around the house and build stuff for 10 seconds or so.
I'm sure you all have noticed that sometimes the server is slow (with a lot of retried requests) and other times it is fast. It is a VPS slice on a shared machine. So, I think that sometimes, there is a big load on other slices on the same machine that slows our slice down.
