Shotgun tile redraw

Looks like the tile the shotgun is placed on doesn't get properly redrawn after the wife picks it up:

Re: Shotgun tile redraw

Yea, when I first saw the trigger lock messages I thought it was a strange detail. But I figured the reasoning was that the player needs to know why they can't pick up the gun for themselves...

Still though, does it need to be visible on the floor? It's already noted on the shotgun before its picked up. Besides, I didn't even know a trigger lock was a thing before seeing it in the game. It's not like glass is visible on the floor when shattered or casings are visible when you shoot your handgun.

Re: Shotgun tile redraw

Well, the gun is trigger locked before she picks it up (if you mouse over it before she picks it up).  This is to explain why only she (and not you, or the kids) can pick it up and use it.

The trigger lock remains behind to mark the spot where she picks up the gun (so that if you find her with the gun later, and are wondering exactly where she got it from, you can find out).

Also, there is an object left behind for technical reasons (objects in this game can only cause each other to change state when they interact, not totally vanish---thus, when she hits the shotgun, she changes to the "holding shotgun" state, and the shotgun has to change to some other state as well---I could have left it as an invisible sprite, but that would have been confusing, because mobiles can't walk over it [because it is actually a mobile object itself).  SO... might as well weave this in as a valid detail in the game world.

Re: Shotgun tile redraw

What about gun locker -> empty gun locker?

Oh, duh — you can't walk over a gun locker.

Re: Shotgun tile redraw

Well, I do like the striking visual of a shotgun sitting there on the floor!
