Re: The Castle Doctrine trailer

I don't think the people that refused to play the game for political reasons would be swayed one way or another by the tone of a 3 minute teaser video. In fact, I think no amount of explanation is going to convince those people.

Re: The Castle Doctrine trailer

The tone of the initial trailer felt reminiscent of that kind of old timey upbeatsness (the same one you hear used to describe methods of vaporizing people in bioshock). Which fits perfectly considering this game is set in what, the 70- 80s? This new trailer feels like a fuck you to all the people who called the first trailer too upbeat XD. Too happy for you eh? How about this you persnikity malcontent grump.

Re: The Castle Doctrine trailer

I just noticed the new version of Mausoleum Jason's trailer. It seems to be mostly the same, but there's this hardcore beat in the background. It's hard to explain. Just take a listen. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tY-8MuN1lik

"I just robbed Mr. Rogers." -Ludicrosity "The wood is my desk, and I'm knocking it with my head." -Blip
"I'd rather pack 25 meats than 1 crowbar if you know what I mean..." -Jabloko
"This is one of the most disturbed things I have seen in quite a while. I blame global warming." -bey bey
"that seems like more resources than I'm willing to put into having my kids killed." -cbenny

Re: The Castle Doctrine trailer

Yes, I just made that version yesterday using my antique Roland SH-101 analog synth.  It's already uploaded to Steam, and I'll be replacing the old trailer on the homepage soon.

I felt like the music-free trailer lacked impact and was a little too dry.  I'm still not totally thrilled with the trailer, but I think the "beats" at the end with the game title and web address are really strong and leave you with a solid feeling (especially with the last line in the trailer, "what you do with it is up to you," which I think is strong).

Yeah, yeah, my depressing voice acting and all....  but the jubilant-Jason version was turning a few too many stomachs.

It's okay, you still managed to squeeze in the chihuahua conga scene.
