Couple questions

Hey guys. I have a couple questions which have probably been answered somewhere already, but the search results were too broad.

My first one has to do with this contest. At the end of the contest, your house's value is used in determining your prize. Is this value the amount of stuff that's been put in the house? Or is it how much money you have left in your vault? I guess this sort of goes into the house choosing when you want to rob someone else. Is the amount it says in the house choosing screen how much money THEY have in their vault, or just how much it's worth. I remember breaking in to someone's house who's "value" was ~2000$, but when I got the vault, I only got about $300 :S.

My second question is about the paintings? What do they do exactly? Can you put them up? Do they add to the inherent value of the house? Can you steal them and sell them for lots of money?

Thanks!

Re: Couple questions

The value of a house is the money in its vault, plus the selling price of tools in the vault (half their buying price). Any walls, pets or traps placed in the house are not counted at all.

Paintings can be bought and stolen. There's no real use to them, but they can be used to track robberies in a way. They don't add to the house's value either.

Re: Couple questions

And in this contest, obviously, you can win a real painting by having one (if you're in the top 8 at the end)

In the case where a house was listed at $2000, but you only found $300 in the vault, there are several possibilities:

1.  There were also some tools in the vault.
2.  The wife was holding some of the money.
3.  The vault had been hit in the past, but some robbers died in the house since then, leaving bounties (and the wife had the other $2700).

Re: Couple questions

Awesome, thanks!

I have another question for you guys then. When someone dies trying to break into your house, can they ever come back to your house? I noticed that when I died in someone's place, I couldn't go back there with another character.

Re: Couple questions

They can come back after the "chills" are over. They currently last 24 hours.
