I'm using steam app and I can't get in.

Yeah, I cant get in through Steam either, it says I need to download the update but there is no option in Steam to do so.

I was able to download the new non-Steam version, though, and that works fine, so it's not a server issue.

The game opens in Steam, so files should be fine. It's just that it won't log you in to the server without updating.

Edit: Just tried Steam again, and it is working. Not sure if that is (or even could be) related to the fact that I downloaded the newest non-Steam version.

Yeah the client won't let you log in if it's not up to date.
