Trap help please

Can somebody please explain why this setup is not working? I am new to the game and trying to figure out configurations.

What I am trying to do is get the cat to the trap if they come from the first tile to the left. Otherwise, if you are coming from the right, you can obviously activate it then deactivate it and resume walking on it. However, with this setup, the floor is set on already and there is no way to turn it off with the pressure toggle switch?

What am I doing wrong?

EDIT: Forgot to add, I want them to head south and reactivate the floor and essentially end up in a dead end where they can't go back. So I want them to use the toggle switch, turn it on, turn it off, walk down across it and then hit the pressure switch and turn it on again.

Re: Trap help please

You posted the wrong draft? I can't see any cats and the thing you have built looks a bit weird.

Re: Trap help please

I think they mean the chihuahua, which kinda looks like a cat!

Okay, so once a given switch is passing power to something, that thing has power, no matter whether power is coming from other places or not.  If it's powered, it's powered.

Thus, once the "sticky" switch gets pressed, that's it:  those electric floors will be stuck on.

However, if the sticky switch is not pressed, then the floor can be turned on and off by pressing the toggle switch (either by dog or by robber).

In this map, if the person comes in from the left, the dog will see them, run over the switch, and then die on the electric floor.  At that point, the floor will be stuck "on" unless the robber can get back there to turn it off.  If the only path back there is across the sticky button, then the robber won't be able to turn the floor off without tools.

Re: Trap help please

Okay. I fixed the draft up a bit.

http://castledraft.com/editor/hgeggT

Let me try explain as simply as I can. The robber will be coming where I set the horizontal wiring. Now, assuming he is smart, he wouldn't dare step down onto the electric flooring. So essentially, he would go all the way around until he got to the chihuahua. Now this is where my problem lies. Essentially, I want the toggle switch to be turned on (turning on the flooring), and then taking one step back towards where he came from and then back on the toggle switch (turning off the flooring). He would now be able to safely traverse the flooring. And, if he decides to cross the sticky pressure switch, I would like that to switch on the flooring and thus having no option of turning it back off. And thus being stuck in the dead end.

However, when I build it this way in game, as I enter my house, the flooring is already turned on without having gone on the toggle switch yet. Hence why I think I am doing something wrong. The toggle switch I put down is an off one, so the flooring should be off. Could anyone provide some guidance?

Re: Trap help please

Your upper power source was touching the electric floor and providing power.

Try something like this:

Re: Trap help please

Thank you so much. I knew I was probably missing something obvious. I've learnt something very important. Don't let power sources touch things wink Unless, of course, they need touching. Thanks again, and happy robbing!

Re: Trap help please

The switch ALWAYS must be in between the power source and the grid in order to work correctly!
