How about a 30ish second cooldown after a house has been robbed where it does not show up on the list, giving the owner a chance to get into his house between robberies?

This is a good idea, for all players in general not just new. Sometimes I want to edit my house but I get a stream of back to back robbers, many of which takes their time.

Oh yeah I meant it to be for everybody, but the reason it is needed is the new amount of players after the steam release.

Another solution could be that the owner could 'queue up' to enter his own house, meaning his client would enter as soon as the robbery gets posted to the tape list.

I just like the idea not because it reduces the amount of robberies, but rather gives time for the home owner to edit his home. I can see why new players might like the reduced amount of break ins though.

Sounds like a good idea, could probably even be shortened a bit. Perhaps, in combination with this, the owner would get a red message like "You see a mysterious figure running away from your home" when their home is free if they have tried to enter, if they are on the tapes or house menu screen.

That sound like a great idea colorfusion. Something like if they have tried to enter during robbery, once the robbery is posted to tape list the owner gets a message and the house has 10 seconds 'hiatus' from the list so they have time to enter.

This could be part of a "heat" mechanic. The more activity/traffic a house gets, the more likely the neighbors will become suspicious and alert the police. Once a specific "heat" threshold is met, the police will be alerted and the house will be under protection for x amount of time.

It's a good idea, I think, and makes sense, but... I think that this would make the top houses almost unreachable, especially now with lots of new players entering the first house on the list
