Steam doesn't recognize time played

I've been playing since I've got the Steam key (at the ending of the contest), and it still didn't recognize time played..
Discovered this today, trying to write a review hmm
Is this happening with anybody else?

Time played on Steam

Re: Steam doesn't recognize time played

Steam only counts time that you played on the steam version, so playing the standalone version won't add time.

there was an issue with steam (that might be fixed now, i am not paying that much attention!) where steam would launch some other exe and then the castledoctrine exe, but the first exe would close soon after running and steam would think you'd stopped playing.

The standalone version isn't even in my pc anymore neutral

largestherb, how do I know if is this that is happening? Or is it just a bug to be fixed on a future version?
thanks!

Re: Steam doesn't recognize time played

one workaround that someone else posted is so find your Steam folder, > SteamApps > common > CastleDoctrine.
rename steamGateClient.exe to something else, then rename CastleDoctrine.exe to steamGateClient.exe.

i think jason commented on it, steamGateClient just registers your steam account to the castle doctrine server the first time you play. or somesuch smile

i imagine it'll be fixed soon enough!

Solved. That's right, largestherb, thanks!

Re: Steam doesn't recognize time played

Funny thing, though... is that this "bug" does not effect EVERYONE!

For example, on MY steam account, it's showing an accurate count of time played through Steam.

So, on SOME computers, Steam counts "launched child processes" as the game still running, but on other machines, it does not.

AND, to make matters worse (for me), I can only have Steam launch one EXE.  I can't have it check things for me before launching the EXE, and switch which EXE it launches if the account is already there...  hmm...

Well... look at the reviewers too on the Steam store page.

Everyone the has various numbers of hours on record.
