Re: 50 dollar bounty?

Hah, I've been posting on the Steam forums a bit and just made on account here and I just noticed the same thing!  Intentional change?  It does help houses build value slower while away.

Re: 50 dollar bounty?

But it also builds it slower while you are at the game. I rob once in a while but I prefer building a nice deathhouse and waiting for the robbers to kill themselves. So far I have not been over 10k in value, I believe, but I enjoy the game like this. 50 bucks per death is not luring the robbers like 200 is and is not giving me money for expansions very fast. I liked 200, I can understand if it needs to go down abit, but I think 50 is too low.

I am sure Jason will get to posting this information here too, but saw this post on Steam forums - http://steamcommunity.com/app/249570/di … 6691536470

Re: 50 dollar bounty?

Hm okay so the start is 50 but successful robberies still add 500 and kills 1000? Guess it's not too bad then, but still, it hampers the playstyle I enjoy the most.

Seconded. Guess it helps encourage folks to go out a bit more and rob, but that's not my playstyle. Besides, it's not as much of a problem to go to sleep and then wake up again with $20-25k from bounties as it was during launch- I started over again last night and got all of $0 from robbers. tongue

EDIT: Still doesn't address dropped tools, which helps bolster the income of well-designed houses, so I guess it's not as big a deal.

Re: 50 dollar bounty?

But Drakol, I don't care about how high I get on the fortune 500 list, as said I don't think I have been over 10k, but I am having fun with the game as a reverse dungeon crawl, for better and worse. Sometimes I get ripped off and sometimes I kill people in spades. But I believe that gullible people mostly try to rob low houses, what is bad about low houses getting an influx of money if their design is good? Once your house goes over a certain value, people start coming in with hordes of tools, it's no longer the starter lives that die in your house. 50 might help the top game but it's too low for the low game, where I am comfortably placed.

Re: 50 dollar bounty?

Maybe bounties should reward lower value houses more? Not with the current value system though, since rich houses will just buy paintings to keep value low and get larger bounties...

It's not my style either.  As far as the bounty change providing any incentive, I don't think there are too many "fresh" robbers who worry about whether they're giving the house $200 bounty or a $50 bounty.  They're just taking a shot at turning $2000 tool fresh start into a big score.  Knowing that you're giving the house owner a slightly smaller bounty is quite an empty victory in my eyes.

Re: 50 dollar bounty?

This does mean that people who start with $2000 and come in, to smash up your place. You will only get $50 for killing them, meaning that in the long run, you're losing a lot of money...

P.s. This is Anti House Owner and Pro Robber in my honest opinion.

Re: 50 dollar bounty?

How about a system where the base is 200, unless your house value is over 15 or 20k, then you do not get a base reward but only the reward for the perps previous robberies and kills?

Damage to your house is only saved if the person kills a family member on that run or reaches the vault.  Also, if a "fresh" robber comes in with $2000 in tools and you have a trap that is clever to get him killed before he uses any, then you actually make $1050 (tool value+bounty).  The old $200 bounty meant that you would get $1200 instead.  Going from $1200 to $1050 is actually only a 12.5% decrease.

EDIT:  A 12.5% decrease is a best case scenario when fresh robbers is loaded up on tools and dies with all of them.  It's a common scenario and quite different than the seemingly drastic 75% bounty decrease from $200 to $50.

I do not think this at all. Most of the benefit from robber kills come from value of the tools - and $2000 starter kit robbers who are aiming to strike big will only aim at the houses whose total are, at minimum, $3000. So the houses that have sufficient funds will still benefit from the tools robber drop, while when houses less than $2000 manage to get a kill.... what, they are likely to only get measly $50!

Remember it's fairly hard to start off when you are down in the pits, and in such situation $200 influx can be really valuable. I fear this initial bounty change is going to make climbing up to mid-tier ranks more difficult...

There is this funny problem of some people worrying about not getting money easy enough and are also worried that they will get too much money too fast.  The latter means that while you are away your house can increasingly become a target for robbers with expensive tools and can make it frustrating that your house doesn't even last one night.  It's obviously impossible to please everyone as each person will have their own preference.  I personally don't mind a slower house value growth rate.

Re: 50 dollar bounty?

I don't mind slower growth rate as well, just wanted to counter the argument that it'll be less favourable to the rich tongue
Now, if initial bounty was $200 with tool sale price reduced to 1/3 or 1/4, that'd be change that favours the poor (and more effective at curbing value growth?)

Yep, the game might get racist against the House Owner. lol

Re: 50 dollar bounty?

Even another argument for a little chain robbery before starting a house. Im here for a week now or so and I think that its getting more and more easy to break into 10k house with staring tools, get all the stuff and then break into a 20-30k one. Half an hour or so and I have 25k starting money for a new house.

What gear do you buy for 2000$
I just died trying to rob 5900$ house with bricks and meat

Re: 50 dollar bounty?

Do accounts created before the change still give a $200 bounty? I just got a $700 bounty from a death.

I think the only bounties that are affected are that of "fresh" robbers.  Also, the bounty on a robber still goes up like before for each time he is successful in robbing a vault or killing a family member.

Re: 50 dollar bounty?

I think it's a bit too low.

Before you would only new to kill a few fresh robbers in order to repair your house from an experienced robber.

Now you need many more times that even just to break even.

Re: 50 dollar bounty?

Agreed. I would have liked to see selling price for tools decrease instead, but we'll see what happens.

Re: 50 dollar bounty?

Jason has said before that bounties can be altered server side but tool sales price changes would require a version change. So it may happen soon, I guess we'll see.
