Yes I've found that pit bulls DO let you "move" them without paying again.  It's the only house object that I've found to work that way (although I haven't testing all other objects).

It's totally viable to start with a starter house and work up.  I'm a relatively new player and I started with a $1600 house and I haven't robbed a single house.  My house has gotten as high as 2nd highest on the first page so far, so it is definitely viable.  The key is coming up with your own trap, not anything posted online.

I've only been playing for a week or so, but I've been only building (no robbing) and it seems quite viable so far.

I quickly realized that you can't get anywhere trying the traps you see on forums or wikis as-is.  Everybody already knows them.  Instead you need to come up with your own trap or variation on a trap.  Add in some clever planning and you should be able to make a single, new trap that is fortified against tools that cost more than your vault contains.

It may start slow but it does start, and it gets exponentially faster.  Catching it at a sweet spot with a lot of $ but before it attracts the big dogs is part of the fun for me.

My current house is only a single trap (there are only 5 squares that you even can die on) and it has gained over $12k in about 20 hours.  Each new iteration has made more $ than the last and I'm still learning and improving it.

I'm pretty new to the game so it's hard for me to judge, but since I built it with my starter cash and I don't know how to make really complex traps I would say no there is not a lot.

I assume I will get the same behavior if I rob house, but only seen while watching tapes so far, so not a huge deal.  I'm more just curious.

I am having a strange issue today that has not happened previously in the last week.

Every time I watch a tape for my house, whether using play or step, the game will take about 10 steps and then freeze up for 1-5 seconds at a time.  By freeze up I mean the buttons don't respond to mouse-over, nothing is moving, and the window itself can't be moved (Not Responding).  Then suddenly it will update a single frame and freeze again.  By single frame I mean the fog-of-war *slightly* updates (a few pixels change), the buttons become mouse-over state from when I was hovering over them several seconds ago, and if I attempted to drag the window it may move several pixels here.

This will happen for a bit, then it will start working... for about 3-5 seconds then go back to the freeze-up cycle state.

Anyone else seeing this?  I played for several days beforehand and saw no problems like this.

For reference, I've tried restart game/machine and also have nothing else running.
