I think someone has pointed this out already, but its really awful that you have to beat your house once again after it has been burgled to watch the security tape. I have just died trying to do exactly this..
Is there any way at all to get that security tape? IM DYING TO FIND OUT how I was robbed... Please please let this be reclaimable somehow..
But more to the point, you're arguing one click versus two. It's really not too big a deal, is it?
Not at all!:) It's not only clicks but also server requests for the apropriate data. Then populating from that data. Then giving back control to the user. This is not a matter of 1 more second for 1 more click but rather a full 5-10 seconds. Even more if you've got a particular house that you are looking for, then you must write it again, press enter, wait for the server request, then click on the house then click on Rob House.
It's really a lot more than you're making it out to be. This just tells me that you are more of a builder than robber:)
Firstly thank you for creating this fantastic experience!
We are in alpha. I would like to know if you could give us any sort of roadmap of what to expect from TCD?
1) Will there be any changes to the mechanics?
2) What are some of the features that you wish to implement but have not done so yet?
3) Can you give us any info on what to expect from v6
4) How do you see the whole alpha->beta->release schedule going? Are we going to be in alpha for long?
There are a few unfun mechanics out there. Let's list a few :
1) THE COMBO LOCK - obvious, does not need explanation. I think the game is about solving interesting puzzles, the combo lock is very uninteresting plus there is nothing you can do on your first playthrough that would get you closer to solving it.
2) THE FUNNY DANCE - this one is rather unfun since there is no feedback from the system if your steps are doing something or not.
3) THE WINDOW OF OPPORTUNITY - this is a variation of the funny dance where you just need to step the game forward enough so that switch X gets pressed in 1 turn, thus creating the window of opportunity for you to cross the gap or electric grate.
I know #1 is adressed by the addition of maps.
I think #2 and #3 would be VERY FUN ACTUALLY if there was some sort of feedback system like a click everytime a switch is pressed. This would let you try out different dances for #2 and would let you estimate the window of opportunity better for #3.
Ideally I would love for mr Roher to give us his take on #2 and #3. My opinion is that as they currently are , they are rather unfun to deal with because without any sort of device or feedback its just another type of combination lock to be honest.
I often find myself going into full robbery mode when I die on one of my complex designs and don't wish to create any traps for the time being. I just try and rob other people instead then. The problem with v5 is that each time i finish robbing someone or probing someone I'm only left with the choice to go back home. I think a quality of life improvement would be to add a second button that says "go rob someone" so that I wouldn't have to go back to my house, click DONE and then click Rob again.
+1 for this guy!
That's a fantastic idea! I find the exact things you mentioned very annoying when looking for new places to rob or viewing tapes.
This would definetly be a quality of life improvement.
