#101 Re: Main Forum » My opinion on Multiple Account Advantages » 2014-03-30 08:58:51

Hi Cylence. Thanks for the encouragement! I feel the urge to play already, but I will resist for a week. After that, if I still feel like playing - I'll put my toe back in the water. I do love this game. It has all the stuff I adore in a game. AS you've no doubt already understood I have a pretty low tolerance for people giving themselves unfair advantage. I'm like that in real life too. Strong believer in equality - naive, I know. The world is after all an unfair place.

#102 Re: Main Forum » My opinion on Multiple Account Advantages » 2014-03-30 02:38:53

Thank you, Cylence. This analytical approach, and the responses to it so far, enlightens me. First - it is obvious to me that having multiple accounts is an advantage. Second - people aren't afraid to use this advantage. I consider myself a good builder and a mediocre robber, and no matter how good I get at robbing there will always be someone out of reach for me because they are better than me (which is fine by me) or equally good or better while sitting on more than one account (which is not acceptable in my opinion). The only logical thing for me to do is to stop playing. I bet a lot of people will conclude the same way in the weeks to come. That, or buy second or even third accounts. This trend will not subside, and it will lead to a marginalization of the player crowd. Those with an excellent understanding of TCD and those willing to aquire extra accounts will stay, the rest will leave. I won't be a part of it, and am leaving right now. I had fun while playing, and I thank you all for that.

EDIT: Spelling

My wife just told me that his wife told her that he eats oranges while showering, leaving peels in the drain AND that he dries off with a small hand towel...

Supposedly, he also mowes his lawn at irregular intervals.

His house isn't the issue. I'm calling attention to him for his lack of decency.

I wouldn't know. I'd never set foot in the house of such a man.

EDIT: I just heard he uses his kids a bait, and that he uses wood to protect his wife. I don't know if it's true.

EDIT2: What a douche...

EDIT3: I'm not Mr. Bartlett. I don't even know who is. Just hate his guts - vehemently.

EDIT: Also, what do you guys think of me announcing it on steam?  I'm sure it will bring a few more people in, but I've hesitated this long because I feel like the Steam community is more likely to abuse things than this one is.

This would do it for me. More players would mean more anonymity and fewer grief robberies.

This is a game. I hear that all the time as a justification for not taking it seriously. Justifying immoral forum deeds by saying you went beyond the point of no return morally when you killed pixels representing kids is just not working for me. I admit my comparison was stupid, but hey... Relax! It's just a game! Well, suck my reproduction spheres.

5) there's no such thing as honor among thieves. why do people care so much about whats "right" and whats "wrong"? you cant enforce 'honor', nor can you verify someone else's honor, so it is all bravado and braggadacciio, as far as i'm concerned. i'm sure most people in this thread have walked into a defenseless house and clubbed an innocent child. how can honor exist after that?

Are you saying that killing pixels is on par with publishing someone's map on the forum? If you are, please explain your logic. One is a viable option within the constraints of the game. It's an option put there deliberately by Jason Rohrer. The other is giving fellow players a disadvantage outside of the constraints of the game.

A weird comparison (first to come to mind): One is like having rough, but consentual sex with a stranger. The other is secretly filming it and putting it online.

EDIT: ...along with said strangers full name and number. "Yeah! You can also tap that ass anytime!"

I died twice from self testing in 5-8k houses yesterday. Got sloppy with the keys both times. That feeling. You go from "Yay, what a cool design I have going!" to "FUCKING BOLLOCKS!!!" in a heartbeat. In retrospect, I like it. In the heat of the moment, though...

#117 Re: Main Forum » Fortress Theory Mod - Version 3 » 2014-03-23 11:10:08

I've been completely cleaned out by guys with 2K worth of tools several times now. The trend is:

1. Enter
2. Wreck as much as you can
3. Take whatever smallchange you can grab
4. Get out

I would understand it if I had, say 2400. I don't. This kind of griefing will only make me stop playing FT. We are a very small player base as it is, so please stop it.

I knew that guy. Helped him a little bit with his house, even. And what a house. So so sad to loose it all like this - but good for you! smile

#122 Re: Main Forum » People who keep their values intentionally low » 2014-03-23 01:29:56

I'm not going to engage in this debate. However, I will make a remark on its form. I will coment on the house first, though.

Shlam: That house is scary. The only way to really solve it is by brute forcing. Noone can possibly get two bitlocks like that right from guesswork. No wonder people died in your house. I didn't - and I'm quite happy with that. I see that my brute force route has been cut off. You can thank me later for pointing that one out to you. tongue

Debate. This debate is futile. It's been reduced to ridicule and should stop, really. Shlam should stop with the "kids" and the "noobs". I'm going to give Shlam the benefit of the doubt (although I must say I have some), and say that  Mr. Howard's house (and the conflict centered around it) will be a fond gaming memory. I know some of you won't see it that way, but I will. smile

Also. My next house is slowly taking form. I don't know if I can make it as interesting as The Pen - but it has promise. Once I feel more secure, I'll start a feud with someone in here. big_smile

#124 Re: Main Forum » People who keep their values intentionally low » 2014-03-22 08:15:21

Hand on heart, one account. I've accepted santa runs from friends after they've died, pointed people in the direction of a vulnerable house and killed Costanzo in the house of a friend. My moral high ground feels firm enough to me. If shlam's success is due to dual accounts, then shame on him. The operative word is IF.

#125 Re: Main Forum » People who keep their values intentionally low » 2014-03-22 05:01:49

Ok. I get your side of it, really. What I disapprove of, is the public way he's being taken down outside of the game. I want the smack talk here on the forums, but I want the achievements inside the game. By crowd sourcing the mapping of a house you meta game your way to vaults. To me that's kinda like cheating. Most of the other things you mention happens inside the game, and I have no problem with those aspects of the game.
