haha I left funny tapes for Wilson

First I got up to like 9000$ in my vault.  Then I went on a spree and died leaving behind a nice bounty

I just weeded one of these out.  If you see the wife go up but you can't see where they go, don't open any doors without bricks.  Usually these are cleverly designed to make you think the wife is up top so you'll open the doors below you and BAM.

given the time of your posts, seems like you've found my newborn house, simple trap yet so effective, i've raked 6k of bounties with the first 5 robberies (3x600-2x2100), the downside is that you have to keep the value under 2400 and unless you avoid sleeping... it's almost impossible. now my house is broken, but i have enough money to go on with the main plan big_smile

that's the starting scheme more or less

You have to run trough the 4th door before the wife blocks the path, the cat prevent you to reach the vault by going down the "safe route".

Since validating the house takes 2 seconds, i kept adding a single wooden wall on the outside after each bounty to reset the counter.
When you are below 2k and with 0/0 try it takes no more than a minute to attract someone.

The huge downside is that your wife is vulnerable and if someone kills her the entire design became useless.

yes that's the one!  I almost opened the doors w/o bricks too but decided to come back.  I wouldn't start over you had all that magic dance stuff in place at the bottom.

Nice work on my mechanical droid house Mr Eatmon.

#156 Re: Main Forum » Fortress Theory Mod - Version 3 » 2014-03-25 17:44:11

That's the thing iceman.  You don't need the dog to go UP to hit the buttons because the combo lock was a paradox circuit.  But I bet what happened was you had all buttons OFF and pulled the dog up to turn at least one of them on, which would open the vault room.

Would work work best would be to just force you to destroy the electric floor to return.

#157 Re: Main Forum » Fortress Theory Mod - Version 3 » 2014-03-25 16:52:06

I think I was ginder.  My biggest worry was that I don't yet understand the mechanics of CADS.  as far as I could tell, a crowbar, lots of water and saws would have done it.

#158 Re: Main Forum » Fortress Theory Mod - Version 3 » 2014-03-25 16:23:00

haaha nice work!!  definitely the combo lock flawa that allowed you to return to it was a problem.

Let me ask you, when you robbed, why the heck was the door not open immediately?  Something weird going on there.

Shit I ended up dying when I did the self test due to being in a hurry.

#159 Re: Main Forum » Fortress Theory Mod - Version 3 » 2014-03-24 21:33:22

personally I think more  people would check it out if they knew how cool it is.

#160 Re: Main Forum » Fortress Theory Mod - Version 3 » 2014-03-24 15:13:37

made a house this morning and its still there!

#161 Re: Main Forum » People who keep their values intentionally low » 2014-03-24 02:56:25

haha that is so typical of this game!  Especially for the super careful, it's always something you never would have expected.

Can I ask, how would  it have happened?  You say botched robbery, but don't you have to succeed to change the state of the animals?

#162 Re: Main Forum » Fortress Theory Mod - Version 3 » 2014-03-23 19:48:14

so far it is interesting.  I don't quite understand the mechancis but, I found a complete undefended house with 4k earlier and a painting.. sory whoever you are.  Anyways, I didn't have much time so I built a big combo lock that controlled the power to a hallway that led to the vault and filled it with CADS.  It was pretty hilarious because the value went up to 9k before somebody sawed their way to the combination and stole it all by the time I got home.

#163 Re: Main Forum » People who keep their values intentionally low » 2014-03-22 09:35:19

Well I'd have to say this is becoming an interesting showdown.  And yes, coincidentally, this is the exact name of the individual who wrecked my starter house by dumping a bounty and collecting it by killing my wife, "Brian Robert Howard.

Do I have a problem with any of this?  Not in a personal way.  Nothing personal against shlam15 either.  But Brian Robert Howard killed one of my wives and wracked my starter house in a previous life!  He also seems to hoard like every single freaking painting.  Yeah I said it!  Mr Howard you have to understand that you cannot just go around wrecking the lower class houses and hoarding all the art in existence.  I was trying to find a cheap painting to make my little wooden home a bit more comfortable for my new wife.  I have a feeling that she is unhappy because there is no paintings in the auction house despite my 10k money just doesn't buy happiness anymore.

#164 Re: Main Forum » People who keep their values intentionally low » 2014-03-22 07:21:11

yeah its obvious lots of people use duel accounts.  I make a starter house and within 2 minutes a person comes in and dies on purpose leaving a 5000 bounty.  10 seconds later another comes to collect it.  I suppose that they could just be friends though.

#165 Re: Main Forum » Funniest Home Surveillance Tapes » 2014-03-17 21:58:06

naw that wasn't my house.  probably the other Carroll.

Mine had a fake combo lock at the start that was a trap.  everything was pretty much concrete and dogs everywhere, lots of electric floors and powered doors.

#166 Re: Main Forum » Funniest Home Surveillance Tapes » 2014-03-17 20:35:30

you may have died right when I died.  What was my house like?  I'm sure I was him that was me in the tape

#167 Re: Main Forum » Funniest Home Surveillance Tapes » 2014-03-17 19:58:57

Yeah I don't know what I was thinking.  I got totally careless.  on that one smile

#168 Re: Main Forum » Bitter victory » 2014-03-17 18:07:15

haha that hurts to watch my house had like 56k put into it and about 14k in the vault

#169 Re: Main Forum » Bitter victory » 2014-03-17 16:38:33

lol surely that was me not paying attention

here's an annoying 1000$ design that does decent but not as good as my first I think.  More surprise traps at least.  It may not be quite right as I cannot test it, but in theory any bugs could easily be worked out.

the combo lock commit button is the wife, which once she has seen you, you need to have entered the combo & you must immediately go.

OK Blip, I've got a new design that I think will score much higher.

I like this design, it's really clever. I may borrow some of it for my own starter houses.
Lord0fHam- Non-Tooled Score: 8/10
Wife Defense Score: 10/10
Tooled Score: 6/10
Tricky Score: 15/20 (Hidden Trap, Unexpected Solution, Wife-Killer Trap)

Total Score: 39/50

But with this version the vault can be reached with a single drugged meat by running up the last path and standing on the panic button.

I'm not sure but doesn't the wife prevent that by arriving at the panic button at the same time you would?  if you wait the wife will push you out, you are forced to select a door right?

I suppose it is possible.  At any rate you can also solve with 1 saw by using the upper panic button to step around the dog

This is just my thoughts but let me know what you think.

1.

Pretty unlikely, first, they are forced to step down by the wife if they want to solve, otherwise they must leave.  At this point they have to double step in 3 places.  They'll never know if they succeeded or not until they turn the corner, by which point they will either get lucky or die.  The probability could be like 1/6*1/4*1/2 = 1/48.  So about a 2% chance.  In practice I find many untooled suicide robbers do not even try to do the dance they just run to their deaths.

2.
How likely a wife-killing run is to succeed (5 meat, 1 club)

obviously not because she has a shotgun

3.
How likely a tooled run is to succeed (2 saws, 2 meat, 2 water, 1 brick, 1 wire cutter)

You wouldn't be able to succeed with these tools.  4 bricks for sure.  with a wirecutter and 3 waters yes but you need to know when to use the cutter.

OH I get it you hit the button for the cats to cross.. duh lol

#174 Re: Main Forum » Do you wanna rob me? » 2014-03-14 15:44:45

I'm not sure I understand how you send the cats??  Do they have to be spaced apart for the doggy commit?

Also, as for the wife defense, couldn't somebody just pull all the dogs out to the enterance where there is lots of space and use dog food.  Then club all the dogs by the panic button, shoot the wife?  That is of course assuming they knew the layout.

#175 Re: Main Forum » Do you wanna rob me? » 2014-03-14 15:25:38

I don't know, but you got further than anybody else so far.  My house has only been around about a week now.  The combo lock when you enter my house is completely fake.  It looks like a combo lock, but it activates when you press the commit button no matter what combination you enter. Tons of people put some code in and feel lucky when the trap door opens.  I think in your case you had gone further in the level and on the way back you just saw another open path.  As far as your bounty, you've been alive for a long time because I always love going to your house whenever I died.

Can you explain the cats in your house?  I mistakenly believed they were there so you could get the dog to back off while you turned on the doggy commit.
