I guess lighting up behind them would be best as you still have the rest of the magic dance in front of them to worry about? But then if they cut the very first grid the paradox circuit will be for naught.

Then you should still be able to see me. Try hitting the unignore button? I was editting just before, trying to get a paradox circuit to work from both sides, was using the editor for experimentation, so try just searching again.

Much abliged, Leveller. Do try and crack it if you can though, I want to see if there are any weaknesses I am not thinking of against a 2k start.

#179 Re: Main Forum » Paradox circuit » 2014-03-08 15:16:14

I've been playing with it and cannot get it to work from both sides. Anyone know if it is even possible?

The worth just went up to 1059 a minute ago, sorry.
Edit: And there are dogs next to the pits obviously, forgot to put them in.

#182 Re: Main Forum » Paradox circuit » 2014-03-08 14:54:48

On review that would obviously not work. Would this? http://castledraft.com/editor/0bIixe

#183 Re: Main Forum » Paradox circuit » 2014-03-08 14:45:41

Thank you Blip. Would this be possible to have both sides light up? http://castledraft.com/editor/OHZv5F

#184 Re: Main Forum » I want to rob you and destroy your dreams or make you a little richer? » 2014-03-08 14:39:46

Aw okay. Could you at least check out my name for me then? Entrance and value stated in edit above!

#185 Re: Main Forum » I want to rob you and destroy your dreams or make you a little richer? » 2014-03-08 14:35:31

Vegeta I see you're active on the forum once more, would you give my house a try? I do not know what my name I'll draft up my entrance if you want to give it a crack smile
Edit: http://castledraft.com/editor/XKPVS2 and 959 worth

#186 Re: Main Forum » Paradox circuit » 2014-03-08 14:33:44

http://castledraft.com/editor/gNF5op does this work? Am I doing anything that doesn't need to be done or am I missing something?

So I understand why and how this works, but what I can't figure out is how to attach it to a magic dance floor.
Here's a pretty simple magic floor, could someone show me how I would attach a paradox circuit?

Yeah I've gone away from this design for all the reasons you guys state here, but I knew my house was subpar, I was basically just testing out the viability of a clock in a starter house, and why this might not have been the best use of a clock in a starter house, the clock itself is cheap enough that you can use it for something worthwhile.
But my point of this post was not to have design criticism (though some of it I had not thought of, specifically the thicker walls thing, I thought deadlier traps were more important, but you make a good point JoT, so thanks for that) but rather I am getting sick of people spending their 2k starting money on tools and then wrecking my 300-700 worth house!

#189 Re: Main Forum » This is getting ridiculous » 2014-03-08 10:26:14

It's more of a concept house, I wanted to try out the clock-commitment trap that's at the beginning. People think they have done nothing to activate the door yet and that they can bail before doing it or disable whatever does it, but on their third step the door opens.

Okay thanks both of you. Here's the map. Like I said, I am aware of the weaknesses, it's supposed to lure in someone -without- tools, the whole reason behind my complaining that someone brings their 2k to it. 2vttwl5.gif

Hm where am I allowed to upload .tga files?

#192 Re: Main Forum » This is getting ridiculous » 2014-03-08 09:43:59

How do I take a picture of the whole map like people do? And it's not a very effective house, I am aware of that, but it was made for people with no tools, as I have time to sit at the computer and update it as I earn money so it was going to BECOME tool safe.

First visitor in my new 2k house with only 238 left over to lure people in, as to not bring too much attention, is some jerk with 2k in tools. This is getting too much, I can't seem to get over the starting hump and 75% of the time it's someone with more tools than my house is worth coming in to wreck it. *deep sad sigh*

#194 Re: Main Forum » Starter House Disscusion » 2014-03-08 08:45:14

I am having HUGE trouble getting a starter house up at the moment and as such I am not going to share any designs, as it's already tough enough without people knowing the intricates of my buildings. I thought I had a good house up last night that played on the psychology of people approaching traps more than anything, but after getting a few good bounties overnight, someone simply bruteforced it.

#195 Re: Main Forum » Blood Blossom: The Rise and Untimely Fall of my Best House Yet » 2014-03-07 11:15:42

It's funny you've done the 'story and fall of a house of death' subtitle, because to simplify the gametitle, when referencing it to my real world wife I just call it deathhouse.

#196 Re: Main Forum » Obviously I Shouldn't Sleep! » 2014-03-07 10:43:01

On the sleep-thing: Your sleep cycle is almost entirely dependent on habit. If you teach your body that it's gonna get 5 hours because that's when your alarm rings, it'll be rough for a week or two, maybe more depending on how 'addicted' you are to your current sleep cycle, but then your body will learn to go into REM faster, which is the part of sleep you really need. If you are past your growing years, you don't need an actual 8 hours of sleep, you just need your body to learn that it can go directly to REM when you do go to sleep.

#197 Re: Main Forum » Vindictive robbers » 2014-03-07 10:13:59

My current goal is to get to the mid/high level of the game and have my family alive and behind one of those pit/pitbull hallways. I agree that the rules should not be changed. Changing starting money means more money to build with but also more money for starting tools for other people, so doesn't really 'fix' it. People have gotten better at the game, which makes it harder on us mediocre players but that just means we have to get more stubborn and keep going, keep learning.

#198 Re: Main Forum » Vindictive robbers » 2014-03-07 10:03:03

If you do a powered pit with a combo lock for your vault you don't really have money left over to protect the family very well. But yeah, the game has gotten harder. It has made me more stubborn. Not that that seems to be helping me out XD
