Marketing Suggestion - Viral Song Parody

The Castle Doctrine - House Intruder Song

Hopefully a parody of this song can catch fire and inform more people of the game.
This song made me laugh out loud the first time I saw it a few years ago.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMtZfW2z9dw
I'm sure you can find some AV guys to whip up something quickly.

Here is my suggested direction with the following format:
Lyrics (Scene happening at time of lyrics)

-------------------------------------
Intro
(Opens similar to your trailer video)
Suppose this is... KEVAN ANTWON DODSIN (names print out on the screen)

Well, obviously, (pixelated version of him with a red bandana that starts talking)
We have a ROBBER in THE CASTLE DOCTRINE. (picture of the robber walking underneath the title)
(back to Antwon, slight pause, then cue the music)

-------------------------------------
Begin Chorus:
He's climbin in your windows, (Antwon starts singing)
He's clubbin your family up, (broken windows, 1 dead family member, rest running, vault nearby)
Tryna rob you so y'all need to (pan to vault)
Hide your kids, hide your wife (shot of kids, then shot of wife)
Hide your kids, hide your wife (shot of kids, bigger, then shot of wife bigger)
Hide your kids, hide your wife (shot of them around the corner with dogs and shotgun)
And hide your money (shot of vault with surrounding traps)
Cuz they're robbing errbody out here (pan down house listings)

You don't have come and confess (back to Antwon singing)
We've got tapes on you (shot of security tape with robber at top)
We gon find you (zoom on the name of the robber which could be Jason's name)
We gon rob you (name selected on house list with mouse going to rob house button)
So you had better watch out, (show tape of person building house defenses from scratch)
Better watch out, (same scene, more built)
Better watch out, homeboy (same scene, more built)
home, home, homeboy (zoom to vault)
End Chorus:

We got your backpack (back to Antwon singing)
You done left your robbing tools and all (show backpack full of tools)
You are so dumb (show robber running out with dog chasing)
You are really dumb, for real (continue scene finding more dogs and leaving)
You think you got away, (show shot where it says you left backpack)
But we know where you live. (show navigating to robbers house on the list)
Other robbers have died tryna do the same thing. (pan through deaths on tapes list)
so dumb, so dumb, so dumb, so (show a robber death on each "so dumb")
(one death by dog, one by electric floor, one by powered floor/pit)
Repeat Chorus Once

-------------------------------------
Outro

I love this idea. Too bad that my skills are feeble. Someone with the knowhow, please make this happen!

Re: Marketing Suggestion - Viral Song Parody

Tasks,
1) Stefan and TheRealCheese to record and pass it to Gyuri.
2) Gyuri to edit the audio.

3) The video needs to be planned.
Any ideas, should we crowd source it? Or maybe try to do the Clubbed to Death and just pull footage from there? (2 birds 1 stone)
Also I think we can pull a lot stuff from the Funniest Home Surveillance Tapes thread.

Re: Marketing Suggestion - Viral Song Parody

I suggest to upload the audio files to dropbox or something and post the links here, just because maybe someone else wants to give it a try without announcing it.

Also everybody please post your videos here if you think you have a fitting scene.

Re: Marketing Suggestion - Viral Song Parody

Ok. I feel like I'm putting my head firmly on the block here. I only said my voice was passable. It's a dark bass/baryton, and am not at all used to singing this high pitched and fast. The two choirs I've been part of have both had me as a bass. When I got to the end chorus, I couldn't even get my voice up there.  Maybe someone else can (TheRealCheese?) - after all, some of the voices should be different anyhow. Can you use this at all, Gyuri?

Re: Marketing Suggestion - Viral Song Parody

Actually it's very good and easy to work with. This took about 5 seconds: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/215 … _take1.mp3

If the original is too fast and too high, try this slowed down and deeper version: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/215 … G_slow.mp3

It might be much easier to sing to it, and I can make it faster again with two clicks.

Re: Marketing Suggestion - Viral Song Parody

That'll make it easier, and more natural for me to sing. Could you speed it up a notch from that slow version? That would put it right in my register.

Edit: I'll try to find a mic somewhere to up the sound quality on the next recording.

Man, great work guys, the slowed down version sounds good too. (Slow Jam Remix, haha).
Also, (gyuri correct me if I'm wrong), Stefan, you can just talk it out. This is the original news clip that the people sampled from, where he's just talking: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzNhaLUT520

Ok what about this? https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/215 … ONG-15.mp3

Cylence, you are right, but that's what you need Autotune for - with that you can set every syllable to the right pitch. That would take much more time than Stefan doing the singing and me editing it to the playback.

Re: Marketing Suggestion - Viral Song Parody

Stefan,
Any progress with the slow jam remix?

Gyuri,
I'm trying to get accounts on the free server. I'll try to do the scene creation so that it'll cover this idea as well as your clubbed to death idea. Working with MMaster on getting multiple accounts.

Re: Marketing Suggestion - Viral Song Parody

Just a random comment.  I'm actually located in Alabama... South of where all of this went down.  I did not go to a single party in college where the Huntsville Bed Rapist song wasn't blasted at least once.

Shockingly good song.

Unknown.... thanks Blip
Unknown again because I thought I'd go on a no-tool revenge run on Blip.  Silly me........

Killer,
Yeah, it's super catchy. Hopefully it can attract players.

Stefan,
I've gotten down some footage for Gyuri to look at and process for the Clubbed to Death idea. He should be able to use that footage to create what we want for this song as well (minus any custom work for Antoine). How is the recording?

I never said I'd do the video stuff. I do it for Clubbed to Death because it was my idea but I don't think I will have the time to do it for this song anytime soon. I'm sorry. Anyone else?

Ok, when you are done editing the clubbed to death idea, can you share the footage so someone else can have the vids to pull screenshots from?

If there is any song that should be associated with this game, it's this one right here:

I know we'd all like more players. And I'm not sure this song would help, but can anyone contribute?
