So I've finally gotten a house that can stand up for more than a day. And it's creeping up to the 2K value mark. I'm starting to get paranoid about what I think of as "Professional Robbers" - attackers that will bring more than a 2k tool set.
At what value level do I really need to start worrying about these sort of attacks?
I'm torn between expanding my house and traps or making the house I have more resistant to the "Pros". On one hand I feel the urge to dump half my money into fortifying measures mainly just to knock the value down from being enticing to pros and to build against them. On the other, my house is standing up well to 2k attacks and the higher value has brought more action.
So what's the threshold to keep my house value at to bring in the 2k attackers but not worth while for the pros?

Hi Degen. Depending on how intimidating your entrance is, you'll be able to get up to 15-20k before the serious attempts starts.

Keep adding to your house, and watch those tapes. As soon as they reveal flaws in your build - fix it. Remember to keep the pile of bait money decently stocked, and well over 2k. You'll see action.

My line is $4k. Stay above $4k and you should have a stream of visitors until $10k. Then spend $6k on upgrades.
Pros can hit you any time. Although not having a set of paintings helps deter them. And even if they do, it's not like your starter place can't be easily rebuilt off the back of lower tier robbery.

I've been known to rob houses with values lower than 2k just for fun.
As for legit robbery attempts, you'll get some at around the 5k mark, but I only look to bruteforce houses over 10k.

Having a well protected wife deters brute force attacks as well (for a bit at least). If you have a 20k house with no family, then robbers are much more willing to invest a lot of tools since they know they will get the entire payout if they find your vault.
Unknown.... thanks Blip
Unknown again because I thought I'd go on a no-tool revenge run on Blip. Silly me........
