Completing the wiki?

The Wiki has been neglected for a while. I think now, with the steam release coming up, would be a good time to push and update the information on the wiki.

We should probably fix prices, finish incompleted pages and fix anything that has changed. A source of correct information will probably help people learn the game and understand harder things like pet movement and wage/bounty mechanics.

Re: Completing the wiki?

Here's some stuff that needs to be fixed:

1. Image with prices of all tools on the tools page, as well as all individual tools, need to be updated to have current price (or preferably be set up the same way as most of the House Objects, where the image doesn't have the price but a box somewhere does).
2. Whether or not the gun can shoot through windows needs to be addressed here
3. The intricacies of what money the wife holds and what money goes to the safe (with bounties while owner is away, tools, etc.) needs to be explained here
4. Images for Wood and Steel walls and  Powered Doors should be changed to something like image for Concrete walls, to prevent future price changes from causing the same trouble and to unify the pages.
5. Images for Trap Door and Pit need to be updated to current art.
6. All the switches and wiring stuff need images of them

Fortress Theory Mod - New objects, tools, and paintings!

I keep dying of a natural cause - Stupidity
The biggest thing that Castle Doctrine has taught me is that the price of your house is proportional to the stupidity of the mistake that kills you.

Re: Completing the wiki?

I just tried uploading  a new image for the gun with the price removed. For some reason it will not change despite the image that appears next to previous attempts to upload it showing the correct image. Perhaps I should just create images with different names and change the links?

Also the side bars for house objects are hard to read because of the colouring.

I'm pretty sure the gun can't shoot through windows now, I'll check it out though.

Update: Just tried shooting through a window with a gun, it does not work. Will update the wiki.

Re: Completing the wiki?

I think I'm having the same problem with images. It just shows the first image stretched to the new dimensions. If you upload it again then the last one will change to how it should look, but the current one will still show as the first image.

Edit: Clearing cache seems to fix it

Re: Completing the wiki?

Of course, the browser assumes it is the same image as it has previously loaded and doesn't bother downloading it again. Thanks!

Re: Completing the wiki?

I've changed all the tool images, now for house objects.

How big should the images for house objects we use be? I think how they appear in the shop on default resolution, but cropped just to the object with background removed. (Like on wooden wall, concrete wall and steel wall)

Re: Completing the wiki?

Yeah, the concrete wall would look quite good as it is if the sidebar was darker (which would also help you to read it!). Any idea how to change that?

Re: Completing the wiki?

It's this template, not sure how to edit the colour.

1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 done. I'm not sure on how exactly 3 works.

Re: Completing the wiki?

Thanks for working on this, folks!

3:

The wife gets half of the total money, even-steven, every time you return home and either edit something OR buy/sell tools.  This re-division does not happen if you return home to buy paintings but don't edit the house or buy/sell tools.

After that, while you are away, the wife gets bounties from any robbers that SHE kills directly with the shotgun.  Other bounties (from deaths elsewhere in the house), plus tools from all dead robbers, are added to the vault.

There are currently no salaries paid, and I don't think that's going to change.

Re: Completing the wiki?

Oh wow, I just loaded the wiki on a browser without adblock. The ads are extremely obnoxious and displace the sidebar for house objects. So glad I don't have to put up with this kind of thing any more.

Yeah that wiki is awful. I can't bear to look at it.

edit -  not the content, just the curse crap!

Re: Completing the wiki?

If anyone feels like it, The House Objects page could do with images for the items.  It looks pretty bland right now as a bullet list.

Re: Completing the wiki?

Might be helpful also to put a few guides on the wiki, as I am also new to the game and feel the learning curve is quite steep.

While I understand that's also sort of the intent, some guides that explain how various electronics work and how to approach your first few heists would be helpful to get new players into the swing of things.

Re: Completing the wiki?

---CAN BE IGNORED; JUST ME BEING ME---
I doubt anyone remembers me but I was here at the beginning of the forums and I got kinda annoyed with the balance issues of the game and took a break but I am back. Yes, I am staring at you colorfusion.

---REAL COMMENT---
Anyway that is beside the point. I am going to set up a page for the shotgun and I might remove the pages colorfusion mentioned if I can.

EDIT: I manually tried to delete it and I don't have the perms. We need a forum admin to remove the page.

EDIT2: Colorfusion, if you want you could try to claim the wiki. I might in the future but honestly you are much more dedicated and deserve it more. I am also not sure if multiple people can claim it or if one has to appoint the other.

EDIT3: I have added Anne's Shotgun.

Re: Completing the wiki?

Yes, someone should claim it!  I think an admin is needed to have delete power (or grant delete power to others, hopefully!)
