I just wanted to share with you all, my neighbours and potential robbers:
Since playing from around a week before the steam launch, I now finally have a house that I think will last to the upper game. There is still room for expansion, and it is already pretty solid. I've loved this game since day one, but only today have I gotten over the 'hump' that has been hassling me. Thank you, everyone who's died to my wily traps so far.
PS: The one thing that has gotten the most kills in my house so far, is a pitbull with no commitgate before it, that people can just turn around from and leave the house, but instead decide to walk right into it. Thank you, Rollo, my favorite dog.

I keep dying of a natural cause - Stupidity
The biggest thing that Castle Doctrine has taught me is that the price of your house is proportional to the stupidity of the mistake that kills you.

No but if you want to find me my value is currently 8400ish and as you enter there is a concrete wall spanning from top to bottom of the map, giving you a choice of up or down. I will give you a starting hint and tell you to go down.

Pro Tip; You actually need to go top.

Actually the top has the pitbull that everyone walks into and all it's doing is protecting my now dead family. The bottom has a commitgate.

As that last thing was written someone killed my last surviving family member, my son, so there is no longer a pitbull at the top. Will probably cost me quite a few kills.

No I needed the space. Anyways, I got robbed during the night, but started out successfully robbing a 10k house so I should be able to build something good again. I feel like I've finally 'cracked' this game.
