My goto is http://castledraft.com/editor/RPP8eB (delete switches as required to set your rout) leaving me over $500 to attract people.

That is a very valid question that I have no good answer to. tongue  My next build may very well take your advice.

If you do this house, shift the whole thing to the right by 1, and add the column i added at teh end to the beginning, it makes for a very nice commitment trap.

That would require your family to be dead?, i guess you can shift it across some more, but that may require some vision checking first, I'm not sure when the chihuahua would first see you in that scenario.

Re: The best house with $2k

you could just shift it over one more and put walls so that it is a 3 wide passage on the first column and stick your family right in the entrance, and then hope they die soon so you can make a better trap!

Four bricks, unless you are assuming you already know where the buttons are.

Re: The best house with $2k

I had a lot of success using a modification of this trap: http://castledraft.com/editor/kcxGJM. When I built it I was using a less compact clock, and I haven't personally tested this one yet, but the principal is this same. This will only cost you $708 and it leaves a lot of room for expansion.

After the switch you should build a simple "choose the right path" trap until you have the money for something more elaborate, but the majority of your cash will come from people who die on the 7th step.

After you've built up some money I'd suggest building some steel or concrete walls around the initial wooden area so a saw won't let robbers out, but leave the wood there to draw new people in. Steel and concrete scare people.

Re: The best house with $2k

not a good solution for 2k houses but i've solved the brick problem that way

http://castledraft.com/editor/xwZlUd

once the chihuahuas take the first step to the right, they won't even come back due to the dead cats

and if you managed to brick the chihuahua there are permacircuits that now require brutforce to be solved.

This still just looks like it would take 2 bricks and 1 water to solve, and it costs a whole lot more to build.

Edit: Also, you can't actually even see the top chihuahua, taking the cost down to 1 brick and 1 water. Even if you could see it, it wouldn't move onto the switch when you step to the right onto the grids.

Isn't the range of bricks 4?

Yes, your right... the field of view doesn't even go up sad

What about this version? I'm hoping this one is in field of view properly.

The chihuahua moves into brick range because it moves on the same turn the cat does. The corpse blocking wont go into effect until next turn.

3 bricks, 2 water. Consider placing the chihuahuas out of brick range. Also, you can save money by using fewer power supplies.

Yea, I was wasting money, haha!

but 3 bricks, 2 water is assuming you know only 1 dog controls everything, the point is you don't know.

Re: The best house with $2k

Panda, if you brick the windows the dogs will run into the pit. Use 1 pit and 1 panic button.

ex: http://castledraft.com/editor/pWNNJc

That way they at least have to saw or wirecut something.

I haven't played around with animal movement much, so your saying panic buttons stop pet movement??

I find that the best house to build with 2k is built with the 6-9k I make from spending those 2k on tools.

Re: The best house with $2k

here's a cheap (1100$ to build, 900$ left over to lure in robbers) build that usually gets me a few early bounties:  http://castledraft.com/editor/LYIFQF

edit:

this is a psych trap.

* the robber feels like they discovered something by finding the doggie window that disables the trap.
* the doggie will always turn the grid off once the robber walks past a certain point. and won't activate until the tile is stepped on again

if the robber did the little dance correctly, the robber won't fry when the robber steps on the first one (also conveniently on tile 10, the window scroll tile, where we are tempted to see more).

otherwise, the whole house is now armed until the robber leaves and comes back.
