Within a few days of the steam release, you could expect up to 25 people robbing your house an hour provided it was worth more than $200.

Now, your lucky to get 5 robbers an hour. This signals that the game hasn't retained those players who purchased the game when it came out on steam.

This game gets better with a larger player base imo so losing players is bad for all of us.

From my point of view lack of players can be explained in many ways. For example i don't play now because i'm in the middle of hard work, and this game is really time consuming for me, i.e. you need to waste few hours to even build up (die several times, find robbable mid-tier house, rob it, build yours, and only then you probably can make a break without losing everything). this game is time consuming, but i won't say it is difficult at all.

About 5 robbers an hour: people got smarter, so you need to invent new entrance tricks, so your house will look completely defenceless for newb, but will also guarantee his death after some steps taken

Your 7 paths with cats: the missing wired walls indicate one of those two hallways could be the exit. Look for consistency.

Furthermore, as i can see both ways in this situation are correct, because button on right path isn't linked with energy source at all

UPD: trap in sixth hallway will turn on, if robber will open door in seventh

Ok, didn't knew. btw other question, don't want to start new thread: what is a purpose of yellow and red pixels in sprites called "shadeMap"? I experimented with custom dogs yesterday, and just saved same custom tga file as "<name>" and "<name>_shadeMap" and everything was ok

UPD: about pit bull: why do i have to remove stripe of pixels in tga files in folders "20" (vertical stripe) and 23 (horizontal one)

#4 Re: Main Forum » So Jason what if I... » 2014-02-15 23:21:47

Same works with every type of sprites: constructions, gear, doggies, even family can be redrawn on client side

how to build a failsafe circuit?

i dunno, turn on fantasy
basically you need to hide somewhere  current called "main current" and  wire some button-traps, door-dogs etc. to this current. bit locks of some kind also acceptable, if you actually want to hide your vault. i mean not necessarily simple ones, it can be a system with correct button dispersed through whole level, not single room. To force robber to cut wire off, connect trap to it. You can make it look like obvious path to your vault (which is actually fake), consult gents from "personal security psychology" thread http://thecastledoctrine.net/forums/vie … php?id=766. That's basics

BTW, my house from this thread http://thecastledoctrine.net/forums/vie … php?id=797 is failsafe if placed at lower left corner, so there is no way to get to bit lock without breaking wire wall. however you need to modify it, because cat will kill you as he killed me

#7 Re: Main Forum » The price of cracking a combo vault » 2014-02-07 06:54:14

Well, AFAIK, 8-bit combo lock with 4 correct keys can be bruteforced (i.e. to put your saw in, you know, wall) with chance of success 1/2. However, if only 1 key is correct chance is 1/8, but you never know. Actually OP gave me some thoughts about why this system isn't enough to defend high-tier house.

FYI: chance calculation based on bit-lock, in which breaking of wired-wall-tile will destroy whole circuit, so you need to choose correct wire at the start. If there is no such protection, you can saw it from behind, breaking through tons of concrete

UPD: isn't OP tactic works only if homeowner is in his bed IRL? He can change code between attempts

Added too. I'd like to check out custom servers. Btw how i actually connect to custom server?

John Victor Collins. I sacrifised myself

Heh heh, I think I know how you died.

Cats are evil.

Basically, once you passed the cat on your way up, he started running down.  Of course, he couldn't just run out of the house - no, he just had to press the other switch for the combo lock, frying you in the process.

Now that's korrekt
This situation really surprised me and now i'm thinking on how to use it as actual defence system. I'm wondering also, why didn't i created simple pressure plate lock, and used CATS and DOGS instead

#11 Re: Main Forum » Sudden Suicide » 2014-02-04 16:33:27

Anyway, i got it, here is the scheme:

Bit lock reduced to 2 buttons by time-saving means, red lights represents electric floor
what makes your death guaranteed, even if code is correct?

Is there a way to somehow convert 'recorded game' txt files to actual recording? I need to tell a story about this and ask some questions about how that even happened

I entered this house after reading this thread. Quite simple design, but i failed to solve bit lock

Even another argument for a little chain robbery before starting a house. Im here for a week now or so and I think that its getting more and more easy to break into 10k house with staring tools, get all the stuff and then break into a 20-30k one. Half an hour or so and I have 25k starting money for a new house.

What gear do you buy for 2000$
I just died trying to rob 5900$ house with bricks and meat

Once upon a time i managed to make my last dwarf escape to forest from !!castle!! EATEN BY DEMONS (i mined "hidden fun stuff". i knew it will not end up well) by constantly arranging new tasks to him. i called it victory

#16 Re: Main Forum » Hey! » 2014-02-03 19:29:24

Also dwarf fortress. Not about crimes, but it have a lot building/trap design just like in castle doctrine. It's a strategy, although, so you will face things like resource mining and micromanagement. This game is really awesome and hard

#17 Re: Main Forum » Hey! » 2014-02-03 19:19:51

Monaco totally fits your request, but i wasn't actually enjoyed playing this title. maybe you will

#18 Re: Main Forum » Campaign Against Combo Locks » 2014-02-03 19:10:41

Why do you say that combo locks can be brute forced? I mean defence system that is controlled by combo lock can be cutted off completely, as happened to me recently (guy went well prepared and wasted 25 waters and a stack of saws. that was enough because of lack of planning in "death hallway"), but you don't need that much of resources (i.e. concrete walls, i don't use them) to hide lock itself

btw, nice cat system, i'll try something like that

#19 Re: Main Forum » The psychology of personal security » 2014-02-02 19:18:30

yes, i just did some research, and now i see how this trap works. learned it hard way, lost my 500$ house. lol

#20 Re: Main Forum » The psychology of personal security » 2014-02-02 18:57:39

Actually it's not that hard to scout through open-wide houses, if you know how. But today i was really surprised by this situation:
Screen_Shot_2014_02_03_at_5_23_33_AM.jpg
i mean why she stand still in the doorway instead of running to escape?

#21 Re: Main Forum » Electronics Tutorial? » 2014-02-01 09:08:46

Whoa! magic. So it means that i need bit storage to actually made it work, because pulse generator completing it's hidden cycle in one turn. Thanks, colorfusion. Yesterday i figured out how to build self-protected code system, but after five minutes i saw that i need protection system for protection system, lol

#22 Re: Main Forum » Electronics Tutorial? » 2014-02-01 08:20:12

Tell me, gents, am i doing something wrong, or loops don't work/need to be updated after version 30? I made a loop, as described in second example in colorfusion's post, but it won't work
