Wahey you found my house!!!! I was playing around with this idea for a future video. It is actually very easy to get round - and can be clubbed very easily (as i found out).

It has caught out a surprising amount of people though, is an effective scare tactic, but also most effective if you move the wife back one more step - however people have guns which makes this kind of idea pointless in the long run.

Well Blip love the house. You have managed to fit in 6 main parts to the house well & do that without really compromising the design. I love the psychological stuff you have going on there - something which I am a big fan of. Plus the fake 'combination lock' is just plain good fun & something that is always good fun on the tapes.

While the house could be forcibly robbed I think even if a scout had got a look at the first 4 sections of the house they would still have a lot to do tool wise. The reason the house becomes harder to scout is because you are doing things to the house but the house responds in a different way than would be anticipated with an average house.

Great stuff

Browsing the forums at all the old houses & this goes down as one of my favourites. Just the cat room and the timing required - love it.

#4 Re: Main Forum » I quit, for serious this time! » 2014-04-15 16:48:32

Just do what I do! Build silly little houses that won't last, rob people that can be robbed, and santa those that can't.

Still loving the game, if not in a more relaxed and inactive fashion nowadays

Club: $200
Gun: $1,200
Killing someones wife just to 'ruin the game': Priceless

#6 Re: Main Forum » not sure if this is a bug, exploit or intended behaviour... » 2014-03-10 09:23:59

I have had the same issue. The wife was killed in a spot where the son should be. The son escaped but obviously the code of the game won't let him respawn on the same spot. Instead he respawned on a panic button which was instantly pressed when the burglars came into the house making the house near impossible to complete.

I would think a way round this is to possibly make the family members dead body go back to the place where they started if there is going to be a clash with other family members spawns on new robberies - or something along those lines.

#7 Re: Main Forum » It's just me or these is less people trying to rob houses? » 2014-03-10 05:51:34

Agree with LiteS. Over the past week the average house worth has gone up drastically which can be seen in the move from the average house being value 1k-5k to now 5k-10k. Peoples houses are getting finished, and they won't go out gambling for a small profit at the risk of losing their precious house. Unless your house looks like a 2k starter house I doubt you will get much traffic coming in.

I will say though I built up my house this weekend, kept around 4k in the house at all times and turned a very tidy profit. Just make the entrance without a commitment trap & I actually found I got more success.

#8 Re: Main Forum » Obviously I Shouldn't Sleep! » 2014-03-07 01:49:57

I can totally appreciate waking up to check the house, I don't usually sleep much and therefore have time to check the house. Unfortunately last night I actually overslept and got a whole SIX HOURS of sleep (life of luxury).

Would take $100 to fix my house if that so will have to go & try robbing someone with no tools to fix this house - or maybe just rebuild it who knows.

Well lately I have been perfecting some 2k houses that can be built for under $2,000 whilst leaving some money in there to tempt in burglars to come in and steal from me.

Bit of a downside to this is when I go to sleep people seem to get attracted to my house like moths to a flame. For instance last night I left my $1500 magic dance setup alone and went to bed with only $500 in there. When I came back just now someone had robbed me with $4000+ worth of tools for $9077 by Ralph James Foster (thank you!). 8 people had died to my traps with varying bounties & amounts of tools.

This seems to be the way I lose houses now - the value going up before I have time to login and upgrade. Any good methods of stopping this happening? I had thought about making my house less lethal but if I do that people just scout around until eventually they find a weak point.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Can come rob me, $0 and a broken house. Sleep for me can't be bothered to restart now haha

#11 Re: Main Forum » Vindictive robbers » 2014-03-04 16:00:23

Ever since I lost a nice house (stupidity) I have had the same issues. Some people just want to destroy others for no gain it would appear. Just got to get lucky and get to a stage where 2k tools are useless unfortunately.

Morale of the story - luck based traps always have a chance the robber will get very very very lucky.

But every trap in the game is luck based, regardless of the odds, given that there has to be a sequence of arrow key presses that lead to your vault without tools.

A luck based trap is say 20 corridors all look the same, 19 will kill you & one has the vault in - thats a luck based trap as there is no real skill in getting it without tools.

Sequences etc can be deciphered by luck yes but they aren't what I would call luck traps ie you can on some of those work it out from extensive scouting etc

Thats definitely one way of getting no-one to come near you without a mass amount of ladders eh....

#15 Re: Main Forum » Jackass or idiot, which one is it? » 2014-03-02 11:35:19

Had the same problem while I was asleep. 2k worth of tools, came in, killed my last remaining child, smashed up the place, and then couldnt work out a way through so left. The house left smashed only half defended didn't last long from someone with some know how.

Goodbye house. Time to build another!

#16 Re: Main Forum » [Suggestion] After the wife is dead... » 2014-03-01 16:08:19

I would agree that something does need to be implemented to give more reward for protecting the wife - or at least making it easier to do so. Right now I (as many do) usually get her killed off early to stop possible weak-points in my house design.

#17 Re: Main Forum » So tired of $3000 worth of tools to rob my $3000 vault » 2014-02-28 15:30:49

Been seeing the same thing. I would agree with you, but also assume that people are naturally doing this to gain experience in breaking into houses & build up knowledge of how to burgle & how to design interesting traps.

Hehe! It's fun to look at how confused I was smile When I opened the last door and the dog was there at first I was like WTF?! as that was the only path left and it was blocked by pitbull. And then realized I saw a loop so I took the dog and let it sleep there so it doesn't get in the way in case I would need to return. Unless I'm at least partially sure that I'm going the right way I usually go to every passage. I didn't know what the button does so I just guessed it needs to be pressed .. i was wrong smile
Good videos man! You should certainly continue!
One suggestion: buy better mic as sometimes when you speak louder it makes really annoying sound and you can hear it in almost every episode at least once. It makes viewers leave - I did find your videos already before, but stopped watching them as soon as I heard that sound second time. You can make great videos but annoying things like this make people leave your channel.

Otherwise it's great! Keep up the good job with your videos!

Thank you for the advice, it's very greatly appreciate the feedback (your feedback not my mics). I will just have to go buy a new mic (damn you turtle beach) wink

To be honest with such a simple house and so many tools you were always going to be able to work it out (quite a simple house) but am happy you gave it a good go on solving it properly instead of just busting through it with tools - the mistake was hitting the button which is alone which is basically a lock all button. If you hadn't hit that a simple brick to the switch which the dog activates would have done the trick smile

So who wants to see the 73k bounty or the robbery that followed? As requested:

This guy. Too much sense for one post.

But seriously, a reduction in price MAY see a boost in sales, but I always find a game grows more from the players that WANT it whatever the price & not just because its cheap.

#21 Re: Main Forum » Pardon me, but doesn't the whole 'No sales, ever' thing... » 2014-02-28 03:13:43

Putting a game up on sale doesn't necessarily boost the player base - surely we all have countless games we buy on the cheap (with no real profit for the developer) and then never play?

I looked at The Castle Doctrine 4 now and you had brick so you could have switched the button remotely before standing on it ;-)

You have seen through my disguise & seen that infact I am a very poor excuse for a burglar tongue

I had just recorded another Youtube video about that house stating 'this will be a great house to harvest some 2k tools from but nothing bigger until it gets majorly upgraded'.

Then I went offline to go and watch the football on TV - by the time I came back this insane moment had happened. Never seen a bounty that high so credit too you!

You will both be happy to hear those incidents will go in a Castle Doctrine episode on Youtube at some point. Absolutely classic stuff - although from the tape its quite obvious that your finger slipped sad

Sorry man! You were easy money for me. I was sure that your house was not prepared for that much money so I went for it before anyone else. Nothing personal wink

But YAY! I will be on youtube smile Let us know when the video will be out please.
