There's a simple problem with this: people will buy unique animals and hide them behind many layers of concrete and pits, away from their trap and unreachable without tools. Why would they risk their unique $30,000 white tiger when they can use a cheap pit bull instead, and just keep the tiger safe? Then even if their house is robbed, and taken off the list, they keep the animal. And nobody would blast through many, many walls looking for something that might not even be there.
Yup, that indeed can be an issue but we can fix it with simple methods as well... Like displaying the rare animal when the robber enters the house or make certain rules for the unique animals.
Aside from paintings, maybe we could have some unique animals which acts like pit bulls but look differently. You get to buy them from the auction and place them in your house, robbers can steal your unique animals if they carry an animal cage which will cost them some money and an inventory slot, providing if he escapes your house alive of course. If the owner or the animal died it will be return to the auction house. Thoughts?
Still, the potential for alt abuse needs to be fixed. Mr. Noonan here seems to be proof of that.
Mr. Noonan is not an alt abuser but a fast clicker, I think you've got something mistaken here...
It would be real easy to see if he is a bot just by putting a 4 high wood wall right in front of door, no? If he walks around it he is a fast clicker if he bails out he is a bot.
Yup, or a pit in front of the entrance...
Maybe Mr. Noonan should dance a little next time so that people don't accuse you on botting LOL! Come on people, he could be a retired man who sits in front of the TV and a monitor or maybe he's working as a receptionist etc etc... Being active & a fast clicker doesn't makes him a botter! How do you think he's on the top list anyway?
Looks like Mr. Friedman was fried!
People who robs $0
Reason 1: Too bored, since the game is slow with low population nowadays...
Reason 2: Dual account players do that often just to increase their bounty so that they can kill themselves for the other account...
Reason 3: Trying to piss off "Reason 2" players or waste their time...
I think Roy Seth Walter is dead... His paintings are at the auction
Roy Seth Walter, just throwing a name here in.
Is that really necessary???
There's also this G. Murderers: They will come in and kill your family just for fun to piss you off.

What's that?
When you successfully robbed someone and he died, you will not be able to see his house for the next 24 hours... But you will be able to see him if he did not kill himself
Well, some people doesn't really care... He might just died and pissed off then decided that he will randomly ruin someone's house to fulfill himself maybe? So by using $2k tools on your house and killing your wife and daughter doesn't really matter to him since he is going to suicide and get back another fresh $2k to ruin another family after yours, so why would he even bother? He might be reading this and laughing at you irl too... Life is just cruel, accept it!
Guy comes in my house with no items and just goes straight past the initial commitment trap, scouts out as much as possible before dying close to the safe, leaving behind a 8.1k bounty. Immediately following this someone comes in with the EXACT tools to break past my defense to reach the safe. It is 100% the same guy on his second account getting his bounty money back plus the money I had in my safe. His path was straight to the safe, not a single step in another direction and my defense was in one of the corners out of view, so a new person would have no clue it was there without prior knowledge. So now my house is completely robbed and in a repairable state because of this guy breaking the spirit of the game, most likely for his own benefit of getting the bounty he had surmounted by murdering wife and kids at the front door of people's houses. I don't know if this is a bannable offense or anything, but the two names were Derrick Jamison Eaton and Aaron Ralph Hernadez. This game is starting to get to an unplayable state for me because of these work-arounds people are doing to ruin the poor player's experience.
In any other games there are always dual or more accounts to gain certain exploit, sometimes it's hard to do anything to them since they did not violate any rules of the game unless if Jason comes up with a rule or a solution, complaining about them is basically useless... I know it's clearly unfair but what do you expect Jason to do? He made the chills and recently the reverse chills to prevent multiple accounts from exploiting but now people are restarting their $0 houses for their 2nd account to rob continuously until they get a very high bounty then they will do something like you mentioned...
Curtains are interesting. Someone else proposed something like that a while back. Though... I'm wondering what kind of interesting designs could be possible with curtains. For a dog to come out, it has to see you first somewhere else (because the curtain blocks the dog from seeing you). So what is the value of hiding the fact that a dog is back there and about to come out? Or hiding what else might be back there? Why would you want to do that? Castledraft example, please (use a horizontal and vert wires in place of curtains, maybe, to demonstrate).
If there's going to be curtain, there will be flashlights to light up the dark... and sometimes those which hides in the dark do not like the light... in that way perhaps a pit bull inside the dark might still be useful
The player gets an urn which they can place anywhere in the map and if a robber move close to the urn the wife's ghost will haunt the robber and randomly remove an item.
What did Mr. Duncan die to? Also another high bounty was me in my last life, ~20k.
Duncan just came and suicide at my place, I guess he's been robbed and just want a new start? He did scouted a bit with a club and water then just jumped into a switched on electric floor which 99% looks like a suicide to me.
Post your highest bounty here, I'll start with this one...
I'm pretty sure the next Christmas sale on steam will get us more fresh meats... Just got to be patient
Jason, I personally think that it will be more exciting if we do not know that if the robber is dead or not before watching the video... Maybe you can review the deaths and bounty only after the video is being watched? What do you think about it?
That's a legit hacker! Jason gave him the license to hack...
Let's share some fun death trap for some entertainment... I'll start first
The game trailer directly lets you know that it's a perma-death game and you can die by your own traps... If you are complaining now means 1: You do not know the game details before purchasing it or 2: You just cannot accept failure in this game which I think you should not buy this game in the first place...
One more problem, What if the painting is hanging at the other side of the wall? The robber won't even notice it even if walking pass the painting...
Perhaps a new tool which is less OP such as a power generator might help in breaking these combination locks?
That would have to cost an obscene amount of money to be reasonable, not to mention greatly undermine the biggest strength - the unique strength - of a powered pit.
http://castledraft.com/editor/G53fUB The most extreme case I can think of quickly would currently cost one at least $13400 to brute force if I'm not mistaken....and it still wouldn't do you any good against an island combo lock.
$5000 is fair enough, since you can't see what's at the back without using a saw... it's still a guess if you directly power up the generator, might even waste the generator for nothing or even worst, a death if you do not bring enough additional tools...
Perhaps a new tool which is less OP such as a power generator might help in breaking these combination locks? Since all combi-locks makes you unable to pass by cutting the power, a power generator will surely help much...
