Why??
whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy?!?!
I think that the cat's room will become a new kind of commitment gate
also.. stuff that I can't understand. The guy comes in with just one saw. And uses it on the very first wall he sees. wat.

I figured there should be some sort of thread for something that you want to say, but don't feel like making a new thread for.
hah, thanks!
I should have thought this. I even thought about posting this to the "tips" thread but it didn't sound nice..
Anyway, today -by chance- I found out that tango (or, even better, Gotan Project) is quite a nice soundtrack for watching your security tapes. Particularly when it involves pitbull chases ![]()
Here: http://youtu.be/nTyZMPpBL00
The beat of this one almost perfectly syncs with the "normal play" steps
As for the pointless pit death...
why... o.O
that Licecap is the best program for gifs I ever used, thanks!
(its on the "tips" thread now)
to make a GIF of a securit tap (or robbery) (or anything) use licecap

this
and a LOT of [safe] testing
awesome!! (and so evil)
Wow, what a hole!
LOL!
It makes it extra scary
lol!
When you first start editing your house, you have the exact same view as a robber will. The camera gets offset when you go to the bottom of the screen. It can't make a full movement of 5 blocks, so only moves 4 blocks down, and will still only move 5 blocks upwards when you go back up. This also happens with the sides of the house.
yeah, that's it. Thanks for putting it into better words XD
This can be frustrating, when you don't have it in mind, as well as it can be turned into a nice trick, I guess
oh boy.. yes, largestherb, I guess you are right. False alarm, sorry..
I must have walked in editing mode a little, centered the doormat and then realized "oooh thats why!"
Case closed
...although this initial off-center thing kind of bugs me xD
hi Miller (and welcome!)
You can start off with this stuff:

FAQ
And there's a lot of youtube videos that can help you feel what you "should" be doing. But always look at the video posting date, because some things like pets/furnitures behavior are very likely to have changed if its an old video (because of newer versions of the alpha)
I've always had a strange feeling when working on my house and then going to self-test, but only today I've found out why
(wires to help visualization)
When you "enter" your house in editing mode, the entrance and the player are exactly at the center of the screen:
But.. when you enter on self test (or when someone is in a robbery, I suppose..) the screen looks like this:
More than once I've found myself having to relocate some pet/trap because the screen scrolling was not somehow "consistent" in editing and in self-test, specially on the beginning of the map, but I've never really wondered why
Of course, if you walk up or down to the edges of the map you can center the map one way or another (since it is a 30x30 map, and so it doesn't have a central tile).
But is there a reason for it to behaves like that, or is it a change in the "render" of the map on the two modes?
Just a quick thought:
what if.. when you're leaving a house, in the black screen with the "You ditch your backpack (etc ...)" you're prompted something like:
"You return to your house"
with the following options:
-ok- OR -ok and ignore this house-
or it could be a checkbox (like the suicide one).. Yeah, I think this could be even better..
Just a simpler way to ignore it, so you don't have to write down/remember the name, etc.. with more players it should become quite difficult to "go home", "leave", and then find the same house again with the names scrolling up and down on the list. There's still the "name search", but after that you're back at the top of the list... and if the owner just went home, you can't find it at all..
I think this could make this feature easier ^^
