pretty sure you can ignore them just like all the other houses, with the button?

First person house exploration would be awesomely hilarious and intense!

Any chance up and down buttons on the house list could be mapped to the up and down arrows of the keyboard?

#29 Re: Main Forum » Tool dropping in houses is making this game only playable two ways. » 2014-02-05 10:45:35

ok. well I must of missed that in a newer version. thats good, atleast I can have 5 minutes to try and get a little cash and only give people bounty deaths from scouting and leave mt $2000 in the vault.

#30 Re: Main Forum » Tool dropping in houses is making this game only playable two ways. » 2014-02-05 10:20:42

@colorfusion. You leave $2000 in your house, its a 0/0 house and it doesnt get snatched up ASAP. Thats impossible. And @Masterpain there is no 5 minute delay. If you walk out of your house its on the server.

Long-time player here and I have seriously realized something in the past week or two. There is slowly becoming ONLY two ways to play this game.

You spend your starting $2000 on house construction and wait for 0/0 houses to make money.

OR

You spend your starting $2000 on tools to try and make some money and either die/suicide or get a vault and then make a house.

BUT here are the two problems with these.

1) With the extreme amount of players added to the game in the last 2 weeks, its almost impossible to get smaller houses like 0/0 and make small amounts of money. So going for the first route of spending $2000 on building and trying make a little money here or there takes forever and I end up doing this for like an hour (literally): http://thecastledoctrine.net/forums/vie … php?id=661

2) There is no point to scouting with no tools because someone will INSTANTLY get your vault and steal your money so (almost) everyone ops to buy tools instead. And because of the tool drop, this leads to A TON of people dying in houses and giving the top people MORE AND MORE tools (money).

I have been very active on these forums and seen ALOT of ideas to improve/balance the game. I know Jason and some of the community (including myself) was just having a great discussion about tool dropping last week and possibly making a change.

I am NOT trying to just complain but trying to start an honest discussion about possibly fixing a part of the game that seems somewhat broken to me.

#32 Re: Main Forum » Question - Why would you ever want a High Deaths to Entry amount? » 2014-02-05 07:58:19

You definitely become more of a target the higher your e/d ratio is but also people are a bit more frightened as well. Its an interesting balance as some people ONLY enter 0/0 houses or 3/0 houses but others like to try and find success where many fail.

One tactic I use for trying to find houses to scout is when there e/d ratio is like 30/7 for example. It shows that the house doesn't just trap you in right away and is at least attempt-able while still being able to leave without dying.

WOW. Ok, glad to know. I must of missed that update in a previous version. Thanks for the info! smile

#34 Re: Main Forum » Is backpack active when I'm not in another house? » 2014-02-04 12:29:50

This has happened to me before but I think that it is because if you re-enter your house, your tools go back into your vault and you have to re-put them in your backpack? But this time I did NOT re-enter my house.

I just filled up my backpack with $9000 worth of tools and then exited my house. I left my game on the home list screen and left my computer. I came back expecting to rob another house with all my tools only to find out I was robbed and all my tools from my backpack are gone too? If you are not currently robbing a house does your backpack stay in your vault?

This house must be using a clock because there is no windows or anything to allow an animal or family member to see me. This brings me back to last summer when magic dances ruled supreme and animals could move without having to see you. Clocks break the game in my mind now because the whole point of making it so animals have to see you eliminated EVERY house requiring exact steps with some crazy magic dance. Even though most houses nowadays are programmed so that when you see the animal most of the time, the next step you are dead, but ATLEAST you know what killed you. Its YOUR fault. Houses with clocks remove the fact that every time you die in this game its YOUR fault. Soon every house will be have a clock and the game will be back to the early version with no window/animal movement. Hopefully these are removed.

Great contest and I had such a great time participating in it! Any chance of a name list of the top 50-100 players or something? Even just a list of names? I think I was close to the top 20 and just curios as to my final position. Maybe I could email you to get my final spot? (I know you are super-crazy-busy on forums here and on Steam but I was just so active in the contest that knowing my final position was important to me) smile

LESS time with MORE tools sounds awesome. A great way to balance the brute forcing.

#41 Re: Main Forum » Career style » 2014-02-01 13:30:31

Glad that you experienced the love, anger and laughter this game brings. I myself, having played this game for almost a year now, have had that experience of dying while just putting in hours of work multiple times. I usually end up quitting the game (after staring at my screen sadly for 5 minutes not wanting to confirm my death) but then come back the next day more eager than before. Its the beauty of this game and it's not going anywhere. smile

#42 Re: Main Forum » Few Things I Noticed About The Game » 2014-02-01 13:28:23

There used to be a income your Wife would accrue darkkolt but that was removed a handful of versions ago.

Here is the post where Jason explains the reasoning:

#43 Re: Main Forum » Longest Robbery ever, and a sound suggestion. » 2014-01-31 13:53:32

In terms of this thread and ALOT of other changes happening/discussed in the last week (expecially after launch), I am wondering if changes are going to happen the same or as often? One thing I love about this game is how often it has changed to accomodate new ideas and throw away bad ones. I like that Jason is willing to experiment with adding and removing content so often as well as being very communicative when so.

#44 Re: Main Forum » Can you stack all tools? And how many of them? » 2014-01-31 08:28:21

I remember those days too Jere. Back when dogs and cats moved every step you took even BEFORE they saw you!! Magic dances were all the rage! smile lol

#45 Re: Main Forum » Longest Robbery ever, and a sound suggestion. » 2014-01-30 20:46:07

In terms of the idea of the "Owner coming home timer" maybe the owner would have to stay in the "your house is being robbed screen" for the timer to actually work? This way both parties would be "giving up" something and the owner couldn't really spam it because they would have to leave their game on a solitary screen waiting to get back into their house. If they leave that screen the timer would go away and start over if they came back?

#46 Re: Main Forum » Chills? » 2014-01-30 15:32:16

Thanks for the clarification Jason. I personally like the 24 hour chill that started during the tournament. I think that prevents people from spamming a house and if you really want a house 1 day is not too long to wait.

#47 Re: Main Forum » A bit overwhelmed » 2014-01-30 15:30:14

More than happy to help all I can with new players! I have been trying to do my best on the forums to help out, and yes, there is a TON of activity and houses on the servers which is awesome!! Glad the launch is going so well!

I just had the largest bounty I think I have ever have die in my house. The robber had a bounty of about $29, 500 just for dying in my house. As far as I understand that means that they have been successfully robbing ALOT of other houses vaults correct?

#50 Re: Main Forum » Chills? » 2014-01-30 12:17:33

I believe there is some sort of chill if you get into a house successfully with tools and see the vault but then leave the house without dying.
