If you look at my brothers original example you'll notice that the signal generator connects to the top part of the bit and that otherwise each bit is connected to the one before it. Each pulse of the clock sets causes each bit to take on the value of the one before it. You'll notice in the bottom left corner there is a single pulse generator. This is there to set the initial bit to "on", otherwise the entire thing would remain "off". Now each turn the "on" bit will cycle around the clock.

Hey jwg, are you able to "circle" the area;s of your brother image to explain?

I don't know where to connect the "output" wires to all this. It's kinda doing my head in.

#53 Re: Main Forum » Potential exploit » 2014-02-15 19:56:10

I just tried, and yes apparently you can.

Seems there are two scenarios:

  • house where owner has USED UP all money; here you can "rob" house for $0

  • house where owner has already been robbed previously; here you see a broken vault, and can't rob them again

#54 Re: Main Forum » Can someone santa run me? » 2014-02-15 19:52:39

Hey Silence, I see you had money to upgrade to steel walls, etc, etc.

If a 2k robber was able to brute force all the way in, then you should consider that as part of your house design.

Part of the game is to figure out how many tools a 2k robber can buy and design ways to prevent those tools from breaking in via brute force.

Anyway, good luck on your next home, you can always come here to share ideas and ask for advice smile

Ditching some tools around the block can help with that.

You lose tools but they don't get any when you don't die and just leave right?

#56 Re: Main Forum » Destroying houses for fun? » 2014-02-15 14:17:40

those are the 2k suicides, if you enter home with tools, you will lose them anyway.
so they "may as well use them all", which is the main downside of not protecting your family with a starter home.

It's the opposite of Santa runners.

And here's an advice for future scouts: You will need 4 drugged meats and one door stopper if you want to get past the entry hall without getting trapped inside.

if the dogs are blocked by 2 cats, wouldn't bricking the 2 cats be more cost efficient?

#59 Re: Main Forum » So how do you start ? » 2014-02-15 02:46:47

There are some strategies that involve the children.

either stopping the movement of other family members in a specific spot, or relying on them to trigger the alarm.

Then there is the role play objectives as well, protect your family.

it all depends on what you want.

There are strategies that rely on them dying, but... like it said, it depends on what you want to do...

Another option is to have one paradox circuit block a second delayed one - http://castledraft.com/editor/ydlfsO.
If the wire is cut the second will no longer be blocked and will now power a bit-storage unit that will close the electric doors in front of the vault.

I hope this helps, let me know if there is something more specific that you are after.

I don't understand this part:

what happens here?

i'm trying to divide my house into compartments, each sector will be separate from the next one with 3 layer of wall (concrete - wired wall - concrete),
that way if you skip trough by breaking the walls, you break the internal circuit and everything stops working.

These traps kill you when there IS power:

  • Electric Grid

  • Electric Door

These traps kill you when there ISN'T power:

  • Powered Pit

So if you want to make it hard to get to the next section without power you may want to do something like this:
I know I've exaggerated big_smile

Very good point.

thanks!

You can probably confirm this with the houses which have four-digit break-ins (forget their names but there's at least two).

These guys probably have more dogs than is worth killing them for.

The 2100 guy for example:
Gun to kill wife = 1200 I.e. 900 profit remaining
If using Clubs; then >4 dog = loss
If using Guns; then >0 dog = loss

Tried to bait someone once, coz I could tell they were always online (constantly resetting the counters to 0-0).
everytime it was 0-0 I would jump in then out again.

never visited me. sad

In terms of animal vision and behaviour, I'm not sure which scenario protects the wife more...

What is a good way to make the robber use as many guns as possible before reaching the wife?

the shotgun is intended to protect the wife from clubs, not guns.  If the range of the shotgun were increased to be more or the same as a gun, she'd be completely impossible to kill, and it wouldn't take any strategy to defend her.

Thanks for your answer, helped explain a lot.

And yes, I agree the wife shouldn't be invulnerable, I just wan't sure of "range" measurements.

As always Iceman, your an awesome teacher.

I think i'm confusing myself on a few things.

When the game calcs the vision part of the game to see who moves, what does it take into account?

Given this example:
http://castledraft.com/editor/FurUmG

Gun range = 3
Shotgun range = 1

The Robber is walking towards the wife with a gun.

Would

  1. The robber not see the wife around the corner, but the wife see the robber? so the next move the robber moves down and the wife kills him?

  2. The robber's range can count going around corners?

  3. Range of 1 = adjacent, so wife can never be protected

Thats completely logic, why would your security camera not record when you are visiting your own house?

I like this idea, the only downsides would be

  1. the security tapes log will get a lot larger. I'm guessing this is held server side.

  2. OCD players like myself would have to "view" it to clear out the green colour

I think you can pretty much guess how it goes.

Yeah, I see them and don't even bother with scouting, (1 step replays for you tongue).

Given that's what you use, then it seem the primary factor for higher commitment ratios is house value.

I.e. a $2000 new start looter would look for $2001 plus value homes.

Thanks for the reply!

Oh right. It's just I've been killed a few times by traps that didn't look like they made any sense. My brain obviously isn't wired up to even attempt some puzzles, because I started to think people were making unsolvable houses. I should stick to the lower priced scores, or maybe give up on robbing completely, hang those boots up and leave the number crunching to the big boys.

If I may make a suggestion to you.

spend the first few days exploring people's homes, both high and low value.
It gives you a very good sense of what's hard to break and what's very easy. (you get a different perspective when there is very limited vision)

After that try building starter houses.

From there, if you get some cash from people dying to your traps you have one of 2 ways to go.
either "extend" your traps, or get enough cash to "wipe" the starter and change the puzzle completely.

Do paintings contribute to the value of your home?
(considering they have fluctuating prices, I'm not sure how this all works)
