Yeah, definitely sounds like someone with two accounts playing the system. I will say however, that a few days ago I ventured into your house with a bunch of tools hoping to snatch up your pile of cash. Unfortunately (for me) I slipped up and accidentally walked right into a trap door at the very beginning of your house... ![]()
You mentioned that none of those people died, so I guess none of them could have been me (also, this was a couple days before you were burglarized). I obviously lost my own house in the process, which was pretty disappointing considering it cost over 100k to build... ![]()
I wonder who did it? I don't see anyone who has suddenly emerged with a huge fortune...
Well it looks like he was robbed at some point today.
Cool, I wonder if that means you're the current rich guy who has been at the top of the list for a while? I forget his name...

Not a fan of the drug-lure-shoot-crowbar technique, are we?
Exactly. Apart from the odd functioning of the new dog /death movement, there is that drugged meat exploit.
Wait a minute, can you shoot sleeping pit bulls with a gun? For some reason I thought sleeping pit bulls couldn't be killed by any means. If so, I have not accounted for this... ![]()
OK, this makes sense now. Thanks.

My wireless router is really spotty and I think it has cut off for a few minutes while I've been building my house or browsing houses on the list, but it didn't kill me. I would expect it to kill me if I were robbing a house though because otherwise you could simply exit the game if you were about to die.
No, as my death happened while I was building, in-between tests.
Well that is terrifying.
That's weird.

Welcome to the forums azaghal. I agree about the awkwardness of dealing with the build mode's off-screen portion of your home. Interesting observation about the similarity to real life building projects though.
That's my understanding too; I think unused tools do simply vanish after a successful burglary.
More like sounds doggy. AMIRITE?

I have been reviewing my tapes and have found several more where intruders are able to take out 10+ dogs using crowbars alone based on the fact that the dogs are not observing the new rules. Sometimes they do; sometimes they don't. I even have some tapes where different dogs behave differently with this regard. There must be a bug somewhere in there.
But... I thought the latest update was supposed to prevent that? Didn't v14 make it so that dogs avoid stepping next to dead dogs except to kill?
Edit: Also, I have tapes both before and after this particular robber in which the dogs obey the expected v14 behavior of avoiding stepping next to dead dogs.
I have a recent tape of a robber named Stephen F. Thurber coming into my home and killing a bunch of dogs and then giving up and killing himself. It is strange because he kills the dogs the "old fashioned way," i.e. by shooting the first one, then luring subsequent dogs next to the dead body of their friends so that he can safely crowbar them. They aren't supposed to be willing to walk into the square adjacent to a dead dog and don't do this on other security tapes, but about a dozen or so dogs do it for this one. Am I missing something about the new dog behavior?
Yeah, it sounds like you missed that last couple of updates.
I haven't been able to figure out how these numbers work. Every time I think I understand it, I find counter examples. If this is a bug, that would explain it.
Version 5 was before my time. What was different then that made only the elite have paintings?
From what I can tell, right now everyone is too poor to afford non-cheap paintings. When every dime counts, you don't think about spending money on paintings. Ironically, this causes nobody to buy any, leading to a collapse in their price until suddenly they are all dirt cheap and anyone can buy them.
Yeah, I started to scout your house (herb) a long while back (when you commented about how someone was in your house for a really long time). I didn't have much money to spend on tools then and made some careless mistakes while scouting which wasted some tools. You put in some new dogs and added security after that, but it didn't even matter. That was the last time I've had any money for tools whatsoever. I don't think I've ever had more than $2500 in tools since then.
I've had some houses that cost a lot more than $2500 since then, but houses you can build up piece by piece by finding a few $100 here, then finding some more there... So long as you spend the money as soon as you get it, it won't be stolen when you're robbed. Getting $4000 or more in tools though is really hard unless you already have a secure house because you need that cash all at once. Even a minute or two is enough time for someone to swipe it.
I have completely given up on any house that can't be scouted with starting funds since there is currently no money in the economy right now.
How did you get your lights green? Mine are orange.
Yeah, it seems like ever since the last update the place has been a complete ghost town. I can't get my house off the ground because every time I log in there are zero houses to rob and I have a balance of $0. There is nothing I can do.
This sounds like an interesting idea. If tool use caused animals to move twice, that would still prevent using tools to bring pit bulls within killing distance. Dogs that started out an even number of spaces away would remain an even number of spaces away. It would also make it harder to tunnel through a wall as a means of escape as gyuri points out.
This is entirely unrelated to the discussion at hand, but I was just wondering what the purpose of the wired wooden wall is. It cost the same as the metal wall ($20), but is inferior because it can be destroyed by a cutting torch as well as a cheaper saw. Is there any reason to use it over metal wall?
The problem is that you can lead a dog from one side of the house to another. Dogs are good enough at following you that they route around stuff without getting caught anywhere. Thus, even if dogs are spaced out initially in a tricky way, you can kill one with a gun and lead the others back to that spot, over and over to stand on the shot-dog body safely, until all are crowbar-dead (as pointed out above).
An extreme version of this happened to me yesterday. I had a house that was one long, winding passage to my family with lots of dogs. Someone robbed my vault (right next to the door), which pulled the first dog down one step so that it became clubable with a crowbar... Well some very patient robber came in with 20 crowbars and walked up and down every passage, luring each and every one of the dogs all the way back to the entrance, where he could stand on the previous dog's corpse and club his latest victim. It must have taken forever. I lost all my dogs though (I think I had exactly 20). I scrapped that house...
Here's what it looked like:
Cool implementation of the safe movement mode!
As far as I can tell, there are only three ways to keep your family when starting out:
1. Successfully rob a rich house using only your starting funds and use the money to build an expensive and secure house.
2. Happen to be playing at a time when there are several other players online and a bunch of active houses to rob. When there is a lot of activity online, you can build upwards of $10-15K in a very short period of time by robbing others and looting vacant "freebie" homes. This is usually enough to build a reasonably secure starter house.
3. Just start building a house you have nowhere near enough money to complete and happen to be lucky enough that nobody kills your family while you add to it piece by piece until it becomes secure.
