Almost like losing your real life eh.

#102 Re: Main Forum » Chihuahua surfing » 2014-03-14 17:47:12

I'm sure the pitbull must look at the chihuahua biting and latching to the leg of the burglar and think to himself: "Wow! This little guy sure has it under control, I better not interfere."

Anyway, I suppose that the best traps involving chihuahua surfing are the ones where you need them to set up for a leap of faith

Nice home though, really puzzle-esque.

and the last guy who broke my house was sitting at #1 and burned 80k worth of tools (of his 200k) over the course of 8 attempts. just so you know what to look forward to.

Let's say you had something like one or two alternate spots for the vault that are just as protected as the real position and you switched the vault's position between scouts. Would that be of any use against those guys?

I think the forum has already been pretty adamant about punishing players for sharing maps of other players.

Well. This one seems to have been pretty popular: http://thecastledoctrine.net/forums/vie … php?id=832

If a player were to become a mod he would delete all the posts were people share maps of his house.

LiteS wrote:

One of the purposes of paintings is to allow players to track who robbed them, and who robbed the person who robbed them, and so on. Returning paintings would eliminate this feature of the game.

In the current state of the game the paintings don't really work as tracers either because the people who robbed the paintings often die and then someone else buys them from the auction house and you won't know a thing about how they switched hands unless you have been logging in the game every half-hour 24/7. I think it is more interesting when you think of the paintings as something to be chased for it's intrinsic value rather than as mere tracking device.

They were merely on a peacekeeping operation to suppress the NATO sponsored civil unrest.

#110 Re: Main Forum » It's just me or these is less people trying to rob houses? » 2014-03-11 20:07:41

Spent some of my money on improvements and put my vault value back at 2k and then burglars sent it back to 13k in one day.

Did you also own blio and watermelon? I stole the two of them and sky together with the same robbery. Did I steal it from you, or did I take it from someone else I wonder?

Nah. I lost it together with Snail in the Sun and Checkerboard when I died trying to scout some rich house.

This was my first one:

Needless to say that it didn't hold out for very long, still a lot noob burglars managed to get themselves shot by the wife and many more went back running to the house's entrance as soon as they spotted her. I think a lot of players back at the Steam launch overestimated the shotgun's range and thought that the wife chased them in the same manner as the pitbull.

You're Mr. Conley, Lord0fHam? The checkerboard used to be mine before one my many stupid deaths. I've got a claim on it because I had acquired it through fair and honest thievery.

#115 Re: Main Forum » Opinion on Paintings? » 2014-03-10 22:18:56

PS: Are those 5 paintings between Today and Haze in the auction house that look like they are corrupted files supposed to look like corrupted files or are they genuine corrupted files?

I concur "A Snail In The Sun" is amazing. It also has nostalgia value on my case since it was the very first painting I managed to rob smile

It was one of the first paintings I stole too, I got it together with other 3 paintings (which weren't anywhere near as good) during a suicide robbery run on a surprisingly poorly constructed 16k home.

#117 Re: Main Forum » It's just me or these is less people trying to rob houses? » 2014-03-10 15:36:00

I went from 3k to 11k on saturday, remained on 11k on sunday and went to 13k this monday.

#118 Re: Main Forum » How to improve the game for new comers, #inspirationalspeach » 2014-03-09 21:10:38

Personally I think that improving the game's wiki would help new players a lot. It is very incomplete and some pages are uninformative or downright incomprehensible (take the 'advanced electronics' page for a example of the second case). A proper wiki ought to have a catalog with all the different trap systems that are used containing extensive and clear descriptions on the way they work, their variations and the possible countermeasures to them. There should also be guides on the types of houses you can build with varying amounts of money, the best loadouts for 2k robbing, the proper methods for scouting, the best ways to predict the locations of the family and the vault, etc...

thats a good point dustman. maybe we can just assume the robber carries a handicam with him at the time of the robbery? maybe every robbery attempt could be recorded, and we could have a separate list similar to our TAPES list that shows the name of peoples houses we entered, and how much we stole

Now that idea I like. Athrough it is a little bit illogical that you would be recording your own crimes, but then again TCD is not always a logical game.

#120 Re: Main Forum » A good idea than someone should add to the game. » 2014-03-09 18:36:17

If you steal the tape of your own robbery, them wouldn't that mean that by logic the house owner shouldn't be able to watch that tape himself?

#121 Re: Main Forum » Can someone help me robbing this house? » 2014-03-09 02:49:48

In that situation the cat would have preference for moving only to the right, yes, but if he hits an obstacle that prevents him from going right then (unless he's perfectly aligned with the burglar) he would start moving up or down, whatever is further away from the burglar. He could make a comb lock out of that by doing something more or less like this:

Nakula wrote:

i dont understand how going up would change the cats walking pattern, isnt that pretty exlusive to following animals? perhaps you have to walk straight to that powered door without any deviations and on the next step through the cat gets it closed? any other theories?

The cat is just like the chihuahua and the pitbull and he keeps responding to your movements even after visual contact has been broken, the only difference is that  he moves away from you (if you're above him he will try to move down and if you're below him he will try to move up, etc.).

#123 Re: Main Forum » Can someone help me robbing this house? » 2014-03-09 01:33:49

The cat must surely be the one that locks the powered door. Maybe if you go straight to the top north corner as soon as you enter the house you can get him stuck in the lower part.

EDIT: On a second look I don't think that would work, That empty upper area must be for a 'magic dance' the cat is probably stepping on a combo lock back there.

I had already seen a lot of people dying from this exact mistake, but i had never seen three of them doing it in a row.
